I got a visit by the FBI!

Seems my name came up in their databases when they
looked up people who own AR-15s.....

now if that isn't proof of de facto gun registration, I don't
know what is....

I still find this Ironic. Then again with my mom's history I still don't know how I passed my FBI back ground screening when I tried to join the Navy.

Lets see. Did they bust into your house without a warrent? Did they take your fingerprints or DNA without consent? Did they brow beat you into a confession? Did they use misleading tactics to try and confuse you? Did they confiscate your gun?

Oh wait, they are just checking up in a polite way not violating ANY of your rights to see if maybe your rifle might be missing or not.

Did they bust into your house without a warrent?
Probably Rang the Bell first before kicking the Door in, Happend to me once(Long, long Funny Hallowean night story)

Did they take your fingerprints or DNA without consent?
Shep's been arrested they already took that
Did they brow beat you into a confession?
To save time they don't brow beat people until after 1PM
Did they use misleading tactics to try and confuse you?
Hmm, Possibly they could have told the Truth, thus confusing Shep

Did they confiscate your gun?
Already did though they might have given it back and taken it away agian

Ah, but this proves there is a de-facto gun registration scheme.....buy
your guns from PRIVATE individuals from now on, people.....

Over at TheFiringLine.com, there are many reports from credible long-time posters that the feds are intimidating Maryland gun owners into 'voluntarily' turning over their guns for 'ballistic testing'. Please check out the following discussion threads:

http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/sho ... did=135575

http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/sho ... did=135579

http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/sho ... did=134951

This is a realization of the worst fears of gunowners. Feds showing up at your door, demanding you turn over your guns. Threats and intimidation. Absolute proof that the fedgov keeps lists of who owns what guns. This is our Orwellian nightmare come true. If you turn over your guns to the feds, good luck getting them back! Perhaps Maryland is just a test case for federal gun confiscation techniques? We'll see....

Oh, know the government knows who has deadly weapons. What ever shall we do? Are they trying to pry it from your cold dead hand yet?

I think it's a good thing that the government keeps records of gun owners. They're lethal weapons and can be miused. At the very least a sane licensing program would be a sensible step.

Yes we have them, Its called a Gun Liscence, In some states you must also get a Carry Lisence plus an Ammo Lisenece if you want to buy ammo not for the gun you bought

Who gives a shit? There is also a people registration scheme (what do you think your fucking social security number is for?), car registration, your financial records are open for any government agent to examine upon demand, etc. Corporations can easily find out more about you than you could possibly feel comfortable with, and you're freaking out because the government knows you had a gun? Big fucking deal.

Oh wait, I forgot, this is part of your "the government will become a totalitarian dictatorship if they know who has guns" mantra, right? Because the US military would run roughshod over the people if only they weren't terrified of villagers with small-arms

Since I'm not very familar with U.S. gun laws, can you guys answer this question? How powerful a weapon is legal for civilians? For example, is an armor-piercing sniper rifle legal? Oh, and please list some stuff that are not legal for civilians.

If you're wondering why I'm asking, it's because I recently attained my U.S. citizenship and I really want to know all the limits of my rights.

It's a big fucking deal because there is a FUCKING FEDERAL LAW prohibiting
gun registration by the federal government...same with your SSN, it's against
the law to use it as an ID number.....so when some dipshit asks for it,
they're breaking the law.....

..............
From a gun board

I already talked to an NRA recommended attorney about this yesterday. Apparently, confiscation is happening. The attorney's office is in Montgomery County MD.

The attorney said he had 38 telephone messages in one day from people being visited by the ATF, Montgomery County Police (MCP) and other law enforcement organizations asking to take their firearms for purposes of test firing.

He says that MCP is telling people right up front they will not be getting their firearm back. And, if the firearm is legally owned then the attorney says the confiscation is totally illegal.
Lets see how many Amendments they're breaking!

1.) Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

2.)Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

3.)Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Shit, that's over three amendments already! I know you and others don't
give a shit Wong, along with several liberals on these boards, but right
now guns are the cause celibre of the Socialist Revolution, and as we all know,
the Revolution eats it's own.....so don't expect me to cry or whine for
you all when the government starts impinging on YOUR stuff...

I now want Fritz Hollings to pass the fucking RIAA bill he's been
trying to pass for the last few years. That's the only thing it seems,
that you jackasses care about, when your computers start getting
legislated around and the computer industry mangled by dumbshits
who don't know what the fuck they're talking about....

If you're going to rant to me how I cannot own a piece of metal, I'm going
to try my damndest to insure that you cannot own your own shiny pieces
of metal.....

Well, you can legally own a .50 caliber Anti-Material Rifle....it's considered
the same as a Long gun....the one stumbling block is the outrageous
price: $3,000 for one

You can also own a .50 calibre browning heavy machine gun, along with
a suppressed MP-5K SMG, but expect to pay upwards of $20,000 for them
and to get the ass probing of your life by the ATF before they give you the
permit to own them.

You can also own armor piercing ammo as long as it can't be fired out
of a pistol....

In the words of Aeron Azameen, "Shut up, Emkay." You know perfectly well that the Constitution was written in another time, for different things, and that your narrow interpretation of the Constitution is not one that is particularly applicable to "the several states" today.

Wow, that was a waste of bandwidth.

If you want to make these ridculous claims at least try to back them up with something resembling unbiased sources.

Last 3 paragraphs, please...
Law enforcement sources said the investigation by federal, state and local authorities has led to information about a number of people with high-powered guns, both legally and illegally owned.

A firearms safety instructor said the FBI has been asking registered owners of .223-caliber guns to bring them in for ballistic fingerprinting.

"They're looking for suspects," said Mike Heffernan, owner of Self Defense Technologies in Kensington. "They're looking at people who have a background in firearms, possess .223 weapons, and have the capability of using them."
Read between the fucking lines.....I am NOT a registerd AR-15 owner,
because i brought the POST BAN, not the need-to-register pre-ban model....

So, they're asking people with weapons that fit the caliber to allow them to be tested. We've already established that.

However, I see no mention of them being confiscated. So drop the martyred gun nut attitude. They didn't take your precious assualt rifle away. They just wanted to test them.

They know you one a deadly fire arm. So fucking what? They aren't trying to take it away from you, so what's the big deal?
