The vid's cool. But the conduct of the soldiers as a whole is questionable.

Loot Wood?

Might it bee that they owned the wood?

Don't know all the facts so I am withholding an opinion.

Load of Crap

If you pulled that crap in the Canadian Army. You'd be charged with "conduct unbecoming a canadian forces member" and then you'd spend two years in the stockade.

Questionable does not begin to cover it, if they are looting take the wood and drop it off at HQ, don't smash their ride, look how pimped out it was

That man poored his heart and soul into that taxi and look what those crazy americans did!

Oh all the looters to stop, the one gettin g wood to fuel his home seems pretty low on the list. When they were gutting the museums, hospitals, and banks, then I'd like to see the Marines and Army. But, from the looks of it, people pulling together wood scraps are pretty benign and industrious. It also didn't seem like they had a translator there. So they had little to go on, except their personal mandate. Funny, doesn't seem destroying a families livelyhood will help mediate criminal problems, only worsen them.

They shouldn't loot. If they do, they should pay consequences. Examples need to be set. I bet he won't loot again or the might run something else over.

Although that seems a bit harsh. But then again...how would they get them to stop anyway!?!?

But perhaps he mine a American truck or something next time.

After all why not the American army just destroyed his means of income so I figure he is plenty pissed right now.

Nice way to win the heart and minds of the Iraqi people that…

This is so stupid. A bunch of people steal wood for fuck's sake. Wood. What the fuck? What the hell was wrong with those GIs? You crush their car for stealing some WOOD!? What, were those planks supposed to go towards an orphanage or some shit? This is borderline absurd. :x  :?

I guess it depends though on how and WHERE it was looted from. I think a lot of us here are under the impression that perhaps the wood was salvaged. But what would be the consequences say, if I were to steal wood from the lumbar yard?

Granted, nothing as dastardly as having my car wrecked.. but a punishment must somehow be metered out. In a country full of looting after the fall of a regime, what do you do.. try to arrest all the looters? Or just take back the loot and slap their wrists?

The video probably doesn't show the whole thing either. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances. I don't know.. I guess its up for the military lawyers to decide.

But unfortunately, yeah.. that probably doesn't set a good image for US troops. There were reports out though about how Iranians look favorably towards US GI's due to their good and helpful behavior.. and the black GI in the video was lecturing the man to send his son to school.

You make a good point there. The video doesn't feature the Americans in a good light, which is a shame. As far as we know there very well could be extenuating circumstances, but the way it is just now leaves a lot to be desired. :?

Who actually made the film? The soldiers? I don't think they would have left out the "special" circumstances if they made it because it would make them look awfully bad.
