Spartan (No Spoilers)

I don't know how many people have seen the movie Spartan yet, but if you haven't, go see this movie right away. I know a lot of people don't like David Mamet, but in my opinion, this movie is the absolute pinnacle of all his work, both movie and stage.

I don't want to say too much (it is best to go into this movie knowing NOTHING IMO) but suffice to say that this is a spy drama, but it isn't like any spy drama you've ever seen before. All the rules are thrown out the window, and despite the relative brisk running time, by the time the final credits role you will shake your head at all the misconceptions you had from the beginning.

The best part about this movie is that it in no way insults the viewers intelligence. There is no pandering, no breaks for long-winded explanations and best of all, no stereotypes that you'd expect to see in a movie like this.

Please note that those of you who like spy/political drama's to be as realistic as possible may find the premise somewhat laughable. Sure, it's farfetched, but I didn't mind at all and the movie envelopes you with such amazing atmosphere that you don't care how plausible any of it is.

I'm interested to hear about what others who have seen this movie think, but please keep your comments general and spoiler-free.

Did you like Ronin? Same guy who wrote that directed this.

My guess would be you will like this movie even more. It's got the same breakneck pacing as The Bourne Identity, but the storyline is tighter with even better twists and turns.
