Hot. Now. Healthy?
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, long known for its high-calorie treats, says it plans to offer a low-sugar doughnut to attract dieters and diabetics.
Exactly how low the sugar content would be was unclear Thursday. Krispy Kreme spokeswoman Amy Hughes said she didn’t know because the new doughnut is still in the early stages of development. It is set to debut before the end of the year.
But just one of Krispy Kreme’s Hot Original Glazed doughnuts has 10 grams of sugar and 200 calories. More than half those calories come from fat, 12 grams of it.
Krispy Kreme lover Clint Beaver said that while a low-sugar doughnut is a good idea, he doubted he would give up on the original glazed variety.
“As for me, I’ll die eating the fattening doughnuts,” said Beaver, a student at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
One of his med-school friends, Nathan Painter, found the whole idea of a low-calorie doughnut strange. “It just seems odd they’re trying to be healthy,” he said.
Still, he said, he would give one a try.
The idea of offering a low-sugar doughnut isn’t new for Krispy Kreme.
“We’ve been looking at this for some time,” Hughes said.

Don't taunt the big man, for he shall devour you whole.
and I will say
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sorry I do not buy certain foods because they can be good for me if they are low sugar(I'll just add an extra hour to my workout)...but because the sugar makes them taste good.
Sorry, not even going to wonder what this crap will possibly taste like.

A healthy low-sugar donut? HAHAHAHAHA! Like any company on Earth would be so mindlessly stupid as to insult the pastry industry with such a blasphemous concoction. Even if it were possible (which, rest assured friends, it isn't), it would most certaintly taste like shit.

much like sugar-free, decaffeinated sodas. really, what's the point if there's no sugar and it's decaffeinated? those two things give it the right amount of flavor. same with donuts and sugar.

It'll be like Diet Coke- done by people who don't mind sacrificing taste for the illusion of being healthy.

What's the point? Having low-sugar donuts for health nuts is like having pornography with less sex for prudes.

'Donuts' and 'healthy' should never go in a sentence together, except for one stating that they shouldn't go into statements together. Especially regarding Krispy Kremes.

I'd say that quote says it all. It's probably going to taste worse than the others, or have some horrible aftertaste, like with those diet sodas.

Or it'll taste good but won't even resemble a donut except in shape.

Simple really, you have to eat so many Krispy Kreme Donuts that you can't actually fit inside one of their stores. Special weight-sensing alarms go off at Krispy Kreme HQ where a team of biological experts trained in the care of marine mammals whisk you away to a designated facility.
