Well he was telling us about the essay we have to write on the impact of computers on society (blah!) and he was reeling off possible topics, one of them was about military use. He said there was always a subset of the group every year that wrote lovingly about missiles and death and kill ratios. My first thought was, "sounds like Shep."
I'm gonna do one on the RIAA/MPAA and how they are a bunch of pig fuckers.

Why? They want to protecut us from ourselves! We must regulate computers
the same way we regulate cars to prevent people from using them to
pirate copyrighted material and send child porn!!

"I say to you that the VCR is to the American film producer and the American public as the Boston strangler is to the woman home alone." - Jack Valenti MPAA spokesman.
People with this level of idiocy having any form of control over
my PC? I don't think so, it's bad enought having to let my parents use it.

If certain people herewant to push for more and more gun control, then
I'll push for more COMPUTER control and see how they like it when
idiots like Valenti are designing their fucking hard drives...

I'm not really that fussed on gun control personally (I'd love to own my own Uzi
) but there's a bit of a difference between guns and computers. You can't exactly kill someone with a PC, well I suppose you could drop it on their head but it wouldn't exactly be efficent...

Yes you can kill someone with a computer....you simply have to do it
more impersonally...is hacking into a hospitals' computer system and
changing all the medication assignments around any less rephrehensible
than personally blowing those people's heads off with an Uzi?

Computers are merely a tool, same thing as guns....would we hold the
increasing numbers of computers with firewire portals as being responsible
for a rise in child porn?
Of course not. Computers are inanimate objects, same as firearms. It's the
fools who USE them that do bad.....
So bring on the Jack Valenti Clones who know nothing about computers
and make them design the new system specs for motherboards, hard drives,
and all other comptuer hardware, instead of comp sci majors....

Anyway Shep you're preaching to the wrong guy, my current political viewpoints lead me to not support gun control by the government.

Heh, I just want to make it clear I despise Valenti as much as you do, but
I want him to actualyl succeed with that Digitial Copyright Act to make certain
members of this board feel the pain that gun owners have had to put up
with concerning the BATF for the last few DECADES....
