SD.net members in college, what did you get on the SAT?

If it's not too embarrasing, could you tell me what your scores for the SAT were when you took them X years ago.

I'm asking because tomorrow I'm taking the PSAT (the "p" is for "practice". Most of the questions are the same), and I want to know exactly what you got so I can compare myself off to you guys and see how inept/brilliant I am.

So what did you get?

Um, no I don't. Once you get into the field of painting pictures and drawing people, that damn test becomes rather useless. Now that I think about it, I think I did about mid ranged. I never studied or practiced for it. Just showed up and hosed it down. Same with the ACT or whatever the hell it was.

Take my suggestion: TAKE THE ACT!!! Tis SOOOOO much easier!!!

I didn't take the SAT, but the ACT was easier than the PSAT!!

I got a 29 on my ACT (out of a 36), but that was due to my low Science score (25 out of 36...mostly due to sleep dep...I got 26 on Reading, 31 on English, and 32 on Math...all out of 36)

And not to make you feel bad or anything...but this was with 1.5 hrs of sleep and no studying...

1400, 690 maths/710 verbal. I was in Malaysia, and when I sat for SAT (pun intended!), I have never seen the exam format before that. Decided that it was too much bother to try to study on it (and 9/11 was another factor), so I ditched trying to apply for a US uni. I'm now studying in the UK. Did A levels in Physics (average 95% score), Chemistry (95%), Maths (92%) and AS level in Computing (90%). Alright, enough bragging for the day! :P

Why the fuck would you do A Levels when you already have a good SAT score? Aren't they equivalent?

A-Levels are not equivilant to the SAT. They're closer to the AP Exam.

I got a 1420: 740 Verbal 680 Math.

I got... oh wait, I didn't take the SAT... go with Verilons advice if you can, take the ACT, I took the PSAT and it didn't look like fun. Of course, some colleges prefer one entry exam over another so I would see which one is favored by the college(s) of your choice. If you can get away with a ACT, so much better, if not then your SOL. Overall, I got... crep, I don't remember what I got... wasn't the most impressive display of academic achievement though (but at least it was over average...)

IIRC (it was a LONG time ago) I got a 1520 on the SAT I. For the SAT II, I got a 730 on Math II, a 780 on US History, a 770 on World History, an 800 in Writing, and an 800 in Chemistry (I had to take the SAT II twice, because I didn't know a Math test was mandatory the first time I took it).

Looking at all of these 1400+ scores make me balk at the fact that some people would have to be getting around 600 for the national average to be 1020....

I know. When I took the test, I came out of it thinking, "That was really easy!" And then I started to think of all of the people who had to do horribly in order for me to get that score. It was really kind of humbling. My friends and I in college took this one test in which the highest award you could get was "High Honors." It was given to the top 2% of people taking the test. All seven of my friends and I got High Honors without breaking a sweat, and we started celebrating and mocking the nearly 400 people who would have had to have done poorly for us to get those scores.
