It's hilarious watching the Christians squirm when asked to participate in these harmless "occult" rituals. :)

Wiccan and Voodoo. Watered down for TV, I assume.

Why? That wouldn't be Entertaining. From the trailers I've seen on SciFi, it looks like the 'rituals' have been supersized and act like Elimination Rounds.

Honestly, I don't think Voodoun requires you to sit in an open pit and be buried by animal intestines.......

Nope, sorry. Only shows I watch on that channel are SG-1 and Farscape. Shows you how desperate they are when they're bringing over Andromeda....

I have not seen it myself. Fiona Horne, the "Wiccan" has created quite a stir in the neo pagan community for participating though.

Is that because the rituals are not true to paganism or for other reasons?

if these were true pagan rituals, they'd involve animal sacrifice, scarification and dancing naked under the moon, possibly dressed in fresh animal skins.

alot of "modern wiccan" rituals are just watered down stuff that's often bastardized rituals taken from other religions. most of it's relatively tame.

I think it is because they are angry for several reasons:

1)Fiona Horne is a HOT sexy woman so some neo pagans are upset that it gives off the wrong image. I really don't think this has anything to do with Wicca itself, just that it is always the beautful people who are picked.

and

2)Some question her sincerity. I think she was in a band for a while and then "all of a sudden" found Wicca and has started writing crap books, gimmicks and kits for teenage Wiccans. Commercialism basically.

Here is a good link:

Fiona does have a good condom spell to guarantee you getting laid though.

As has already been said, most sane people would squirm for the "rituals" seen on this particular bit of reality TV tripe. They're nothing more than the over-the-top fancy of the show's writers, intended for their gross-out factor and their ratings gain. If I wanted to see people engaged in bizarre gross-out stunts in a contrived environment for almost no gain whatsoever, I'd watch Fear Factor.

It is quite disappointing that Sci-Fi has gotten into the "Reality" TV craze.
