Cowboy western fashion

Here where I live there are lots of people who drive raised up trucks, wear cowboy hats and super tight wranglers. I don't know how many of us here dress like this, but I shit... come on.
Out of all dress styles, I would say this one is really the strangest. Why dress up like people who lived 100-150 years ago? Isn't that sort of like dressing up as a medieval peasant and calling it a fashion?
What do you people think?

like with all fashions it really depends on who wears it.

Country-western fashion really isn't that big a deal. Lots of people dress that way cause they think it looks good. Also, in some parts of the country, it really is the best way to dress-- those parts of the West that still ranch, for example; and a cowboy hat's great in sunny areas (I should know, I've had several). In other parts... I dunno. Not that big a deal anyway-- a lot of people like to act all redneckish (like me!:D) sometimes.

Is he carrying a sadle? I guess that means he doesn't ride bareback.
There are some people that sort of go western style around here but I see it less and less the longer I've been here. I know some people who go a little western when they go to C&W bars but I don't know anyone who usually dresses "western". At work they let everyone go "western" on the days that the Tucson Rodeo is going on but that's pretty much it. Before they stopped making the men wear ties at work a bolo tie was an acceptable alternative to your standard noose.
I do see ranchers that have the cowboy hat, jeans and cowboy style work boots (not pointed or embroidered) and there might be some cowboy style to shirts I see them and others wearing but it's not something that looks like it just left the stage at the Grand Ol Opry.
