For what I've been able to look up, it could technically be called the Aughts, though that's only a compromise: first decades in a century don't actually have a name.

Some of you are probably thinking "why don't we just call it what people during the 1900's called their decade?"

The problem is: they didn't call their decade anything.

I think that from 2011 onwards, whenever one refers to this decade, they have to use the terminology and accent of a grizzled gold prospector. "Why, back in aught-four, we only had 1 megabit broadband, consarnit!"

"I remember when ur dad was just a little boi."

Certainly a much less tense place... all that pent-up sexual prudeness... gone.

How do you figure that? I mean... Yeah. Some of the membership scares me.

According to a half-remembered conversation with my sister years ago, the current decade is the ohzies. Next decade is the onezies, or alternatively the tenzies.

And we had to drive in our fossil-fueled cars to school through 15 feet of snow up-hill both ways.....

I don't call it anything because we're still in it, but I assume I'll end up calling it the 2000s.

Like who? :angelic:

Anyway, the aughts sound good. So, it's aught-four now. :)

Next decade: The teens. At least as far as I'm concerned.

In my office, they're the Two-Thousands. Specific years are the 0-1's, 0-2's, etc.
