Most ineffective martial art style.
okay, i keep getting into arguments with friends of mine, so im asking what you all think here. The question? Whats the least effective martial art style? My answer ? Tae Kwon Do ...
I think its got more weaknesses then any other martial art just by the sheer number of kick techniques contained in it. Being on one foot doesn't seem like a good position against another trained fighter. TKD i think could be good, if mixed with other styles of combat, but by it self i feel like its lacking alot of things. what do you thinK?

I know I favored hand techniques when I was in Tae Kwon Do... I'd feign a kick, and them jump in and nail them in the side. I'd block with my legs while I punched, even. ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

Anything that's taught in a "McDojo". This is where the emphasize fitness & self-esteem and hand out a new belt every time you renew your membership. They dumb down the martial art and make it PC and all touchy-feely, you could get a black belt from one of these McDojos and still get your ass schooled by a white belt from any decent dojo.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

It's meaning is basically akin to a dojo like aerius described. Heck a street brawler can beat most of those people.

It's a term someone on another board coined to describe a Dojo (martial arts school) where they basically give you belts for signing up. Every 3-6 months or whenever you renew your membership they give you the next highest belt for a $5 fee. All you gotta do is stay there long enough and you'll have a black belt regardless of whether or not you actually have any skills.Cornelius wrote:What is a McDojo?

Tae Kwan do is the least effective especially from the chain dojo's that start sparring at green belt level only..
Most effective i've seen are american freestyle karate, jeet kun do, and aikido
Beat the shit out of a black belt in tae kwan do once... got my ass beat by a aikido blackbelt... i can compete with him now though
Though true masters of tae kwan do are quite good, but they fight more like kickboxers imo.

Not exactly true, Capoeria can mess people up pretty bad, the reason its mostly show is simply due to its origns but variations off the ol' basic style such as Brazilian Capoeria or the one very fucked up looking Morocian verison of Capoeria can break quite a few bones simply because Capoeria is all about not only the moves but getting your momentium up until you can connect with something thats going to bend opposite the angle its supposed toCapoeira. It's all pure show.

are you talking about applying martial arts to real life combat situations, or applying them to strictly tourney style fighting? each one has its own advantages in and out of the ring, and works differently in each situation.
wushu, for example, is mainly a sport-based martial art, so it places much more emphasis on tournament style competition than actual street fighting.

Both, and i think tae kwan do would be the worst choice for eitherDarth_Zod wrote:are you talking about applying martial arts to real life combat situations, or applying them to strictly tourney style fighting? each one has its own advantages in and out of the ring, and works differently in each situation.
