What is your favorite Language?

Okay, I know we had a topic before where we asked what languages do we know...I am interested in what languages, given the option, would you WANT to know (let's keep this to human languages, please)...I'll submit some of the ones I want to learn after some responses are made...

Besides, I need somethin to do in the hour before my Russian class starts...

My family is a random kettle of languages. I have Swedish, Norweigan, German, Russian, Jordanian, Egyptian, Polish, French, British and Californian relatives (through law mainly, my blood family is predominantly German-British).

Our family gatherings are ludicrous linguistic adventures, to say the least.

And for the record, there is nothing as hilarious as listening to Germans recite love poetry.

German, for me even the most mundane things sound scary when their spoken in german!
After that Russian because I think it sounds cool

I'd like to learn German, mainly coz i'm curious to know what the guy from Rammstein is shouting about.
I can already say the important phrases in foregin language
I can seduce a woman in french
I can propose a toast in Russian and Japanese
and i know enough to get fed and watered in any country.

If he'd stop shouting, I probably could pick out what he's saying. But, he's too busy screaming at the top of his lungs. I can't even understand him, even if he were to speak English!

Well... let's see... I'd like to speak Chinese. Mandarin and Cantonese both, would be nice, but I'd be thrilled just to get an either-or on them. Russian would also be nice.

I don't speak Thai, and I'm not sure I want to. I have a friend who's Thai, and whenever she speaks it, it sounds... I don't know. Kind of like the human equivalent of a purring cat. So, I wonder how much of the pleasure of listening to it I'd lose if I could speak it.

NO! Don´t deny me my amusement about the fact that they are actualy taken seriously in some parts of the world.

BTW, does german realy sound so scary?

Japanese (for obvious reasons), Spanish (so I can tell of those mexicans right back... for I know enough now to know that indeed they are insulting me!), German (intimadation factor... I have written down somewhere "do what you must and leave the rest to the devil" and it sounds evil as hell... ontop of that I could swear I heard that in a Ramstien song...), French (I know enough phrases to impress most of the opposite sex, anyway, it just sounds romantic), and Math (I know a lot but there is still so much I want and need to learn)

Yeah why is it so intimidating? Its probably more the bad reputation than the language itself I guess

My favorite are Russian and Latin, though.

The nordic languages sound intimidating because of the harsh consonants. German and Russian are two great examples.

I'd really like to learn Russian some day. Of the five languages I speak, my favorite is probably German. It just sounds great!

You can't say the same thing about Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, even though they are German-origin. I can't imagine anything less intimidating than a person yelling insults in Swedish. If any Swede reads it, no insult intended -- that's simply how I see things.

Kelly, have you ever heard spoken Finnish?
