Or some parents just flat out don't give a shit. Look at how kids run wild in stores these days. If I had even thought of doing anything remotely like that when I was a kid, my ass would be grass!Darth Wong wrote:Some people are just not that attentive to their environment. I've noticed lots of kids wandering dangerously while their parents seem oblivious. Worse yet, a lot of people are careless about open doors.
I hate kids like that. Last year, I had the misfortune of working in the toy department Meijers on Christmas Eve. Some of the parents actually dropped their kids off to play in the department. I told the kids to knock it off and behave in no uncertain terms. Of course they parents bitched at me and to my boss. He backed me all the way. I hate those kind of kids, goddamned little monsters.Vertigo1 wrote:

I'm sure he's already agonizing over those questions, with or without any reminders from people like us.Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Smi wrote:The father has to take some blame. Why didn't he shut the door? Why didn't he notice the kid? This guy's pretty dumb for a doctor.
Ohh man, those are the worst. When K-Mart closed up their regular stores around here, they had their usual closing sales. When I showed up, you wouldn't believe the mess that was made. There was crap EVERYWHERE! Broken toys strewn all about the store, etc. You had to step on torn pieces of cardboard to get anywhere. I gave up and left. I actually felt sorry for the employees.Stormbringer wrote:I hate kids like that. Last year, I had the misfortune of working in the toy department Meijers on Christmas Eve. The problem here is that there is no "handbook" on childhood...I agree that there could be some sort of book written than every parent "should" buy as far as child safety, but I think that it is inappropriate to say this. As someone said earlier, it is hard to look at every little nuance there might be...Having doors open for such a small amount of time, for example. It is possible that it is one of those doors that DOES latch properly, but it slows, and rebounds a bit before it fully closes...the child could easily have held the door open (storm doors are not that heavy...if a cat can hold it open, a two-year-old can), and walked outside.Asst.
