Thou shall not take hostages in the presence of
United States Special Operations snipers!
710 Grain bullet wizzin' at approx. 3,050 Feet Per Second
definitely leaves a mark!
This guy was part of a group of bad guys that barricaded
themselves in a Hospital in Qandahar. He was shot by SOF
with a .50cal sniper rifle.

Shep, out of morbid curiosity why did you post this?

Damage of this level is a bit suprising, one IJN pilot took two 12.7 hits in the head, though one was glancing, and was still able to flew some 600 miles back to base in a damaged Zero.

Strange thing is i don't think it looks disgusting at all.
Despite seeing the remain of the mans head and the brain inside don't give me the chill or anything.
Must be due too i have gotten adjusted to horror from all the Hollywood movies lately like Saving Private Ryan and the Alien trilogy etc.

Doesn't bother me at all... of course I watch all those surgery shows on Discovery Health and TLC... and it better not bother me saying I want to be a doctor and all... but still, that was pointless Shep

I wouldn't have expected the skull to have been neatly split in half like that either. It looks more like an axe blow.

Indeed, but it looks like the bulk of the guys brain mass has "vacated" the guys head, even if his skull is not too torn up.Stormbringer wrote:The velocity and mass probably just sent it right through without tearing his skull apart too much.Dirty Harry wrote:It strange, I kind of expected there to be more mess than that.

I suppose ... well, since I've been drawn back here might as well add something worth while. The round must have entered at or just below the formation crack and exited breaking the back formation plate back or off. It could be a probable theory why it spilt like that. The lack of immense blood though would be attributed to the blood/brain barrier. Just my 20 pesos.Mr Bean wrote:Hey, he gave you fare warning and I can count on my hands the number of useless posts everyone so far has made to other threads

But you have to remember brains are soft and squishy. They'd naturally be torn up much more by a bullet than the skull.

After seeing many real, actual deaths on news reports and documentaries, I have to say that they always look fake -- even worse than the deats in fifties war movies and westerns. And this photo is no exception and in this case I could probably say that the guy deserved it. What kind of scum barricade themselves inside a hospital for chirst's sake?
Anyway, last spring when the Israeli rolled their tanks in the west bank, I saw a Palestinian gunman getting shot. When the bullets hit, he fell on his knees first and then dropped on the street. Lying there, he rolled two times to one direction, moved his head a little bit and then finally just lay there in peace. It looked extremely corny...
Damn, I don't even feel disgusted by this. It is quite shocking pic but that's just about it. You know, it even looks like it was taken from an amateur splatter movie.
