I use IE. Which is unstable enough to start with. And I have been downloading from the-underdogs.org.

Which doesn't allow DAP, Getrigh or GoZilla etc. And as such you have to use IEs integrated downloader which is dodgy as all fuck.

Now, when no less than about 80 windows open up and flood my system and IE decides that it doesn't want to play anymore and I lose an 80% complete 12mb download (no small loss on a 56k connection) with no hope of resuming it. I get pissed. I get more than just pissed. I want blood. Lots of it. Splattered everywhere. And gore. And bits of bone too.

Now someone beat the crap out of that man for me.

I can't even CTRL+ALT+DEL it because the motherfucking system is on PUBLIC COMPUTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, eventually the damned computer decided that it didn't want to play anymore, thus closing all the Idiot windows AND SD.net....

I just pressed ctrl+alt+del then closed the main IE window, and the idiot windows all closed by themselves.


A few other people have said that they only had to press Alt+F4 then click ok or something like that.

Did I mention I was on public computers...?

And if you're fast enough, you can resume downloads even after they've gone under. This is for IE downloads.

And I apologize if this has been hell for some people.

The new version of Netscape (7.0) has a built in download manager which can be turned on or off very easily. If you don't want the manual you can get the program for free from Netscape.com.

I don't think it would solve the pop-up problem though.

Getright: go to Configuration, Advanced, Protocol. Check "Generated from the download URL".

If this doesn't work (it should) choose "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98)" from the drop-down list. I don't remember if that's selected by default.
