It seems as if one of my geeky friends has been nominated for prom king. He is a gangly nerd who stands at around 6'6" is stick thin, wears socks up to his knees and caries his backpack on a roller. He has a geeky and morbid sense of humor and is generally creepy and loves entymology.
His name is Alex.
Another of my geek friends has ben nominated for Prom queen. She stands at 5'4" and is an anime nerd that insipires both love and fear because, while she is a wonderful person she WILL bitchslap you.
Her name is Stephanie
NERD POWER!! The nerd subsect of my school is rather large, and we have a massive voting block. We SHALL have nerds for prom royalty!

You don't think there's anyway it's a set up? *Sees visions of Carrie with bitch slapping instead of psychic powers...*

My high school did that for several years running (the magnet programme had about a third of the school's population), much to the great annoyance of the rest of the school.

The power of NERD compels you!
The power of NERD compels you!
Good luck to em', hope they wear something cataclysmicly unfashionable.
And
win.

Hey, nerd girls can be HOT! But that's just my opinion. I love nerd girls. Nerd girls are the best. They're smart, can hold an intelligent conversation (egads!), and are pretty. They might not be fashionably goodlooking or SEXY. But they're pretty, and that's fine by me.

Two of my closest friends were nominated for Prom King/Queen, and they're just on the normal side of goth.

Oh, for about 6 hours or so they do, I'd say.

Correctamundo.
Was actually nominated for the sophomore guy person (I forgot what they call it, and it's different at different schools).. didn't make it, but was nominated. I hated that.

Damn straight they do. And perhaps this is jumping the gun by a decade or so, but I believe they'll make fine mommys.

Wow, people like nerd women. I feel so wanted suddenly.
Purely to be an asshole I ran fake write-in campaigns for Homecoming Queen and all those other stupid high school popularity contests. Through the mighty power that is nerdiness, I got enough votes to prevent one girl from winning something or other (like she would have had I not stolen all her votes) and got write-ins officially and eternally forbidden at that place.
Before me, no one even thought of circling a name that wasn't listed on the slip. But now that "NO WRITE INS" are put in huge letters on the top of all the ballots, larger than everything else, everyone will get the idea stuck in the heads. Now hundreds will be introduced to the protest write-in vote! BWAHAHAHAHA!

You're at a site whose primary purpose is to debate Star Trek and Star Wars.
You didn't expect us to go for some airhead bimbo who prattles on about what she, and, like, her, like, girlfriends did in like, the mall, like, that, like, weekend, instead of a girl who would rather read
Excession, watch Stargate, or play some Mario Kart than go to the mall, did you?

Luckily, to be popular at my school, you need to be smart. However.. you can still be an asshole..
I haven't been here long enough to know about who usually wins these things though.

This is completely off-topic.
A thread about prom reminds me of high school. Dalton has a Rick James avatar.
Is anyone else saddened that we didn't have Chapelle's Show when we were in high school? I'd love to have served a detention for brushing a teacher off with, "I'm Rick James, bitch!"

Only a detention? My oh-so-enlightened school would smack down a sentence of one-day inschool suspension, minimum.

I'm not really sure what would've happened. Calling a teacher "bitch" would probably have warranted at least a Saturday detention.

I've been dating a female nerd for going on two years or so.
As to insulting a teacher, it depends on the teacher, really. I asked one of my teachers if I could call her an evil bitch-monster of death (I think that's the title), which she got a laugh out of, but I got a call home from guidance...
Cookie for the refrence.

I've never been able to understand why people place so much importance on proms, or why no one understands why I don't wish to attend my school's pitifully underfunded prom.

Well, us "goffs" didn't bother going to our prom equivalent, we just bummed around down on Middlebrook Retail Park, and i can guarantee we had more fun, going by the boring travesty of the 6th form leaver's do.
Fucked if i can even remember if we had that whole king/queen business, let alone if anyone won it.
As for insulting teacher names, "Sergeant Fuckface" was the best we came up with.

everybody was drunk at my prom. the students, the parents and the teatchers. that was a whole lot of fun.
