I was under the impression the guy who founded Walmart had superceded Gates at some point.

There were times when other did the same. Certainly it is not the first time.

I didn't read the article, but I hear alot on this board about this....IKEA...whatthe hell is IKEA? (Keep in mind my channel is PBS, I listen to NPR, and I hardly ever leave the house unless it's to battle the aliens who regularly try to land on the Modis buidling in Downtown jacksonville in order to spread their intergalactic bubonic plague across the city.

It is also a swedish company.

IKEA also furnishes about 3/4 of my town's furniture supplies.

Ingmar Kampard. a grand old man that I met once. During my time as a photagrfer at aftonbladet. 10 yers ago.

He was loded even then. An drove a Volvo 240 that was prety scruffy. But he felt that he dident need anythig else.

That's gotta be embarrasing for Gates. Out of all the really rich people in the world, he loses his spot as the richest man in the world to the founder of a chain of furniture stores.

Have a very large cruise ship custom built as a personal hatch for starters. That plus crewing and fueling it for years should knock about two billion off total.

Compared to them, most Royals aren't that awfully rich.
Maybe the Sultan of Brunei, or the Queen of the NEtherlands, but most are shabby compared to gates and consorts.

Listing of such things generally do ignore royalty and heads of state. However I'm pretty sure even with those included this guy is still at the top. The Sultan of Brunei was the worlds riches person bar none with 40 billion for a while (he now has much less) and I don't think any other Royality is outside the 20 billion range.

The Queen of the Netherlands only has a quarter billion dollars, the reprt of her having 2.5 billion was apparently based on incorrect information supplied to Forbes. The Sultan had 40 billion at his peak but is now thought to have as little as 10 billion.

The Walton fortune, IIRC is in total superior but it is split up among the many children and relatives of Sam Walton--the founder of the megacorp. So I think if you look at a list of the top 50 richest, several of them will be named Walton, but none of them will be in the top five.
