NSA is hiring

Post by Tsyroc »

NSA is hiring
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The highly secretive National Security Agency is looking to hire 7,500 workers over the next five years in the spy agency's largest recruiting campaign since the 1980s.

It looks like Mr. Bean's "civilian" job is ready and waiting for him. 8)

I'm surprised they are hiring so many people though. I was completely blown off by them but that was back before 9/11 (not to mention my resume wasn't anything special).

I should apply just to see what the rejection letter looks like :D

It looks like you can apply online so most likely they just ignore you or "file" your resume if they don't want you.

I do sometimes wonder if they add you to a list of people to keep an eye on though. :D

Dear Mr.Wong

Since are a Canadian, we would hire you as a spy, but your country poses no threat to us, as a small army of mall cops could overrun your country in a matter of hours.

Thank you,
NSA

That's why they should hire him. No one would suspect the Canadian.

Maybe I could repeatedly, conspicuously, and vociferously assure them that despite my last name, I have no connection with the mainland Chinese government. I'm sure that would calm any suspicions ... :D

Doubtful, didn't your parents immigrate to Canada from China? I think during the Cold War that automatically excluded anyone whose parents were Russian born, though I'm not sure that still applies. Plus the USA and China aren't constantly on the brink of lobbing nuclear weapons at each other.

NSA doesn't deal in foreign operatives anyway; that's CIA's job.

I'd consider this, in about 25 years.
Tugging a rhythm to the vision that's in my head
Tugging a beat to the sight of you lying
So delighted with a new understanding
Something about a little evil that makes that
Unmistakable noise I was hearing
Unmistakable sound that I know so well
Spent and sighing with a look in your eye
Spent and sighing with a look on your face like

Sweet revelation, sweet surrender
sweet, sweet surrender
Surrender...

Isn't this like being a playground snitch, though? Got to be a fairly dangerous job, unless I'm completely misunderstanding. Oh well, I'm a British-born Canadian, so I don't need to worry about it.

MI5 is also double it's normal size as it reaches Cold War levels of staff. My brother was considering applying after he first saw Spooks or MI-5 as it's called in the States (hyphen shouldn't be in like that).

My RE teacher at school was headhunted by the MI5 years ago when he thought he was in an interview for another job, the suits said that this was an assessment for a gov't position in the Security Service and if he joined he'd be signing the Official Secrets Act there and then. He declined though given he had a family plan going and that doesn't work well with such a career.

Haha, what a pack of morons in the upper crust... They're running PeopleSoft 8 for their application server, and (big surprise there) it has crashed.

Yeah, the NSA mostly deals with signals intelligence and crypto. And time travel.

That may have turned out to be a fortunate thing--my friend John signed on to participate in it, agreeing to work for them for five years and in exchange they were to pay for his undergrad degree. Well, he couldn't take it there (and he's a VERY laid-back, easy-going guy), so he bailed early. They made him pay back all of his undergrad expenses (roughly $70K) in three years. Three years! Yes, he broke the contract, but come on!

 Damn. Well, I dropped my CS "ambitions" anyway, so it wouldn't have mattered much.

NSA is only signals intelligence, decryption and whatnot. It isn't really a dangerous job.

Since I was mentioned in the first post I have to respond(Its a rule of mine) and I will in two parts

-------------------------------------------------------
First some advice on getting hired at the NSA
Three things to keep in mind when applying for a job at the NSA

1. Ask yourself this, Hey me, do I already have or had a current US goverment sanctions Secret or higher clearance?
If the answear is no your already been dropped into the lower fifty percentile of applicates, if its yes you just joined the top fifty percent, if its still acitve congrads you into the top ten percent if not well you still in the upper fifty

If you happend to have a TS/SCI or higher congradualtions welcome to the top five percent

2. Do I like seeing Sunlight anytime other than when I'm driving, like say from a Window?
If so the NSA is not likley for you or its gonna be hard

3. Can you handle the fact that though you may never lose your job any and all work you do, no matter how much time you've put into it inculding sixteen hours days and working weekings can at ANY SECOND be rendered moot on the word of Congress or your boss's boss(Or just your boss depending on where you work)
If you can't handle that the NSA is not for you

Every time a program gets cancled it means plenty of fun time next to the furances infront of that cherry red fire buring box after box of your own hard work

Next the REAL Wong Rejection letter

Dear Wong, Mike
We thank you kindley for your resume that we recently recived and after review we would like to let you know that you are not one of the people we here at NSA want to join our branch right now because of of the fact that Non-US Citizin and your past Suspected Devinat Behavior and we could not simpley get over the fact that you always blank so we are now going to keep your resume on file we will be not contacting you soon

Regards Debra Thorn
Head of NSA Personnel Deparment

Now onto the rest
Yeah, the NSA mostly deals with signals intelligence and crypto. And time travel.
Time Travel is a NRO project not NSA, they poached it from them back in the Seventies
NSA is only signals intelligence, decryption and whatnot. It isn't really a dangerous job.
Obviously you've never seen the DC traffic around Fort Mead

One last note I left off eariler, for a Civilian to get a Security Clerance costs roughly 30-80 thousand dollers, Military folk like myself an Lonestar get ours free only because the Goverment covers the cost, The avarage contracting firm has to pay more because they do it person by person

Which is one of the reasons why Joe Moron who has NO JOB SKILLS WHATSOEVER
Not even stamp licking
Can get a fifty thousand doller a year salory if he has a TS/SCI clearance because people like Joe are in such short supply(And always will be till we become a perfect race of moral and just people) that companys that need that sort of person will train them for whatever job they need them for, even inculding collage time, just because they have that clearance

Special Controled Intel the defintion of what that means is still Confidential but should you be possing of a brain slighly larger than your avarage Cornish Field Mouse you might hazard a guess at what it means

(One of the things I've always hated about my work is learning what is classified and whats not and if the fact its classified is classified)

I did, but I still got a "thank you for your interest" letter. But like I said my resume was crap and I don't recall them having their own website at the time. Certainly their job openings/career opportunities weren't so clearly defined at that time. Plus, my security clearance was due for a renewal so at least some of that expensive stuff would have had to have been redone.

Besides, as everyone knows the EW rating is virtually worthless in the civilain world unless you get a job with one of the companies that makes the equipment and provides contractors for the Navy. :)
