Or so the US's Sun tabloid claims.
The Sun wrote: BERMUDA TRIANGLE MYSTERY SOLVED!

Astonishing new documents reveal a discovery that could forever alter mankind's concept of time: A mysterious spinning fog over the South pole capable of sucking objects in and shooting them back 20 years into the past.
Scientists say the incredible time warp provides valuable insight into the Bermuda Triangle, where hundreds of ships, planes, and peopl have disappeared.
Long-buried reports reveal that on January 27, 1995, American scientists investigating the frozen reaches of Antarctica noticed a strange tornado-looking, cloud-mist formation.
They fastened a long rope to a high-tech weather balloon, sent it up and watched it disappear into the whirling fog.
The balloon was outfitted with a sensitive, highly accurate chronometer - a device that measures time.
When researchers hauled the balloon down again, they found the date read January 27, 1965!
"It had been transported back 30 years," says Austrian physicist Dr. Relf Hoeffner. "the equipment was checked and rechecked and the balloon was sent back up several times."
"Each time, the chronometer recorded a difference of 30 years."
The incident was reported to the White House, but officials downplayed it.
However, says Hoeffner: "The implications of this discovery are mind-boggling. First and foremost, it reveals that time travel is more than just a possibility - it's a reality."
"What's more, it may solve one of nature's most perplexing mysteries: The Bermuda Triangle."
Hoeffner refers to the infamous area enclosed by Puerto Rico, Miami, and Bermuda. Hundreds of ships and planes have entered the triangle and disappeared without a trace.
"it's clearly not coincidence," Hoeffner says.
"Had the balloon not been secured by a rope, it would be back somewhere in 1965 right now."
"so we know that time can be altered by specific kinds of weather patterns."
"Although the climate of the triangle is, of course, vastly different than that of the South Pole, wind patterns are remarkably similar."
"It's more than possible that cloud formations like the one described in the 1995 report could occur in the triangle."
"In point of fact, in many of the black-box recordings to air controllers, pilots reported being disoriented by a 'gray mass.'
"Moments later their planes vanished."
Riiiight....

Anyway, I now leave this to you guys to rip it to shreds. :D

Ummm why are you putting a tabloid article here?

And let's just say the lack of any evidence but their say-so is all anyone needs to disprove them.

Moving to Off-Topic.

Oh I love how the clock (presumably a small computer) sets ITSELF back fifty years...I didn't know that there was a universal time signal constnely being transmitted which clocks will lock onto and set themselves to....

It's not true. The time vortex is actually in the south Pacific. Back in '79, it actually sent the USS Nimitz back to December 6, 1941.

Obviously true.
Time travel is an established fact.
I am currently traveling forward in time at the rate of 1 second per second.
(1SPS)
Oh, backwards in time. my bad.
Do people that write this shit actualy believe it, or is there fraud and or humor in it?

(I told them we already got one! *snicker*.......Now go away, or I will taunt you a second time!)

Interesting idea for a sci-fi story......time travel have been done way too many times.

seeing that there are no links provided to any reputable research organizations conducting this "study" and they don't even bother listing the credentials of the "scientists" investigating, i see absolutely no reason to even waste time on it.

excellent. Now we must dispatch the Sun to Iraq so they can clear up this whole WMD thing. Perhaps Saddam sent the weapons through the time portal back to 1975 and left them in the hands of a Dutch hedonist named Johann Van Der Smut who, consequently, lost his genetals in an unfortunate smelting accident.

The article doesn't mention it but several members of the team also stumbled upon a hidden temple where predators train their young. The entire team would have been lost but one scientist used the time warp to go back and warn his collegues.

Really. They just forgot that part.

This is one of the stupidest, most unintelligible loads of gibberish I have ever had the displeasure of reading. Everyone making that claim should be summarily executed for stupidity and the good of the gene pool.

Even if it were true they'd still have to prove that such a fog exists over the claimed area of the Bermuda triangle. I fail to see why I should accept time storms as being a world phenomenon without some evidence.

Is the article's writer *moronic* enough to completely ignore the fact that chronometer is merely a device to measure time by the user's perspective instead of truly reflection of universal time? I can rewind my clock hours earlier, so?

Bah, this post should belong in the "no-shit-sherlock" list.

Heheh, it said that it shoots it back 20 years, yet the balloon went back 30. From 1995 to 1965.

holy shit, i just noticed that. they can't even get their facts straight in the story and they actually expect people to buy into their garbage?

In a related report, we've lost contact with Part of Miskantonic U.'s team of scientists sent to the pole to take core samples. The other part of the group will be taking a plane to look for them.

Too bad all he could manage was shouting "Tekeli-LI!" before going completely insane and running off only to be eaten by the hibernating prehistoric turtle he had awakened.

Why would a clock reset itself thirty years if it goes back in time twenty?

And neither sun is as bad as the Toronto Sun.
