Kill Bill Vol. 1 - Worst DVD Ever
There ain't shit on this DVD. I popped it in at 1 AM and have already watched the film and all two of the special features.
Great video quality and all that, great menus and artwork. Just don't buy it unless you absolutely cannot wait for the uber-edition that will come out next year (like me), hopefully with the Hanzo sword and Okinawa shirt like the Japanese got. And if you pay more than 20 bucks for it, you deserve a beating.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Maybe I shouldn't speak since most of my DVDs are pornos, but I don't exactly buy DVDs for special features, commentaries and all that extra stuff. The only feature I kinda care about is multi-angle, I just watch the movie and that's that, extras are nice but I don't really need them.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

Isn't multi-angle usually used a lot for porn?aerius wrote:Maybe I shouldn't speak since most of my DVDs are pornos, but I don't exactly buy DVDs for special features, commentaries and all that extra stuff. Oh, and given the release date and all, its fairly obvious that QT is planning another release. Especially after he said that he wanted to do other releases in the US, like the Japanese full color cut.

I've never really used multi-angle on porn. I've found most porno multi-angles to be a joke; usually it's just a reverse shot or something. It's a gimmick.

Don't be surprised if they release a double version with more features.
BTW, not everyone likes or uses the extra features on the DVD. Some people just want the movie itself.

I don't watch any features unless they're deleted scenes. I'm just not that interested.

Yeah, I bought the DVD on Thursday and was disappointed to not find a commentary track. But I can wait for the special edition; Vol. 2 will keep me happy in the meantime.

Then feature-less DVDs should be cheaper. Or boast really high quality AV like Superbit ones do.Alyeska wrote:Don't be surprised if they release a double version with more features.

It should be a tradeoff between AV quality, extras, and price.

I'm contemplating whether to get it or not now. I don't care much for a gazillion hours of shit I won't watch, but my brother may want to wait what with being a completist and all.
Tarantino said himself that he's a collector and completist so he wants different types of the DVD with varying features. It's worse than waiting for the nice extended editions of the LotR trilogy.
Ah well, at least then I have cash for The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Special Edition DVD.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

If your brother's a real completist, he'll buy all versions of the movie, including the bare-bones oneAdmiral Valdemar wrote:I'm contemplating whether to get it or not now. Go the extra mile and buy the Man With No Name Trilogy Collector's set.
It's got all three.

Yeah, but the new one is a special edition. I recommend getting the box set plus the new DVD. Hopefully they'll make special editions of the first two.HemlockGrey wrote:Go the extra mile and buy the Man With No Name Trilogy Collector's set.

Nu-uh. I was going to at Xmas, but then my bro (being the bloody movie buff he is) told me to wait 'til April when the special edition of that film came out with an even longer version and more features than on the trilogy box set edition.HemlockGrey wrote:Go the extra mile and buy the Man With No Name Trilogy Collector's set.

I can pick Fistful and Few Dollars for a cheaper price on their own anyway, though they lack features (like I care).
I think I got the trilogy set for just over $30.Admiral Valdemar wrote: Nu-uh. Just what kind of extras are supposed to be in the Special Edition of TGTB&tU?

Re: Kill Bill Vol. 1 - Worst DVD Ever
In the last day I've watched Kill Bill vol. 1 and all of the special features, including the trailers, plus I've watched The Matrix: Revolutions and all of it's special features. The Matrix had much more than Kill Bill but neither had much. Revolutions also came with one of those nearly worthless square CD-Roms (those things suck) with a few more extras.Joe wrote:There ain't shit on this DVD. I guess with extras I like commentaries, deleted scenes, extended cuts, music videos and behind the scenes stuff. I'm not real keen on stuff for the computer since it's usually more of a pain in the ass than it's worth.
As much as I like commentaries I there have been some on certain movies that really sucked, were really boring, or just awful because they crammed too many people onto them (a couple of the LotR's ones were like that).

What's ironic is that virtually all CD and DVD players and CD-ROM manufacturers tell you that you're not supposed to play shaped CDs in their hardware. You'd think the two industries would try to communicate with each other...Tsyroc wrote:The Matrix had much more than Kill Bill but neither had much. Re: Kill Bill Vol. 1 - Worst DVD Ever
This was only the second one I've recieved. The first one came with the T3 DVD. So far I have not been impressed with what they put on them. In both cases they were bare bones computer stuff that in the past would have been crammed onto a small section of an extras DVD. I guess they are trying to spread things around to those people who don't have a DVD player on their computer.Spanky The Dolphin wrote: What's ironic is that virtually all CD and DVD players and CD-ROM manufacturers tell you that you're not supposed to play shaped CDs in their hardware.
