Would you eat dog soup?

While browsing Dave's ESL Forum, I was surprised to find that many expats working in South Korea admit to trying boshintang (dog soup). Here are the three key links:
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/vie ... hp?t=17893
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=476
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/vie ... hp?t=14489
Also, vaguely related, is the issue of how cats are treated in Korea:

If I were hungry, sure. Why not? They've been eating it for a long time.

At the bottom of that link on boiling cats, one guy mentions that we all let fish suffocate.
Well, what else are we going to do? Shoot the fish?

No. Not because I consider it inhumane, but because dog meat just doesn't sound so appetizing to me, given the culture I was raised in. The only circumstances I can imagine eating it in are if I was really desperate, or I didn't know what I was eating.

Well, fisherman bash in the heads. Or at least that's what my biology teacher did when he went fishing.
As for just boiling cats, I guess it can be conisdered more inhuman than doing the same thing to lobsters, if they can feel more pain.
I guess I would try it, if it was prepared somewhere clean. Some of the markets in Asia you wouldn't want to eat any of the food there, not just dog.

I would go out of my way somewhat to avoid dog soup.

i like to keep my pets and my food as separate as possible. I am not going to make something a pet when i plan to eat its kind. Personally i would go out of my way to avoid eating something made from dog or cat simply by the virtue that i do not make pets out of my food.

I'd go hungry for a few days without eating dog or cat. My argument's pure emotion, and i acknowledge this now. Also, fuck Korea for boiling cats.

Yeah and I'm supposed to be responsible for every fucking problem in Korea. Why don't you fix every fucking problem in your country or shut the fuck up?

Would you like a bigger paddle to beat that straw with? Put it this way: have you EVER written to politicians or otherwise campaigned for animal rights in korea? Have you ever done ANYTHING to change the way it is?

The proper way to kill a cat that's about to be eaten is by drowning. That's just how it is.
I've never thought of boiling it alive though. It has the problem of all the hair on the body, and of course, no way to marinate it.

As a matter of fact, yes. I'm part of an animal rights activist group.
And,
1. What the fuck does that have to do you with your hasty generalization and your changing of subject?
2. Why do I have to shut up or take responsibility for all the moral(relative) problems in Korea when you do nothing of the sort?

Er, i didn't edit my post, not how it doesn't say edited by me underneath and how you quoted me right afterwards and it was still there.
[EDIT: see, this is me editing my post!]

Good for you. Still doesn't stop your country sucking for not outlawing cruelty for animals, same as mine for not outlawing foxhunting and all those other bastardly sports. .
1. What the fuck does that have to do you with your hasty generalization and your changing of subject?
In this sense "Korea" was clearly aimed at the government/majority population(?) that has yet to get a proper attitude about animal cruelty.
2. Why do I have to shut up or take responsibility for all the moral(relative) problems in Korea when you do nothing of the sort?
Because if you don't care about your shitty laws regarding animals, you are part of the problem.

If it came down to the point of
survival, I'd eat the soup. But beyond that I wouldn't touch it.
As to the boiling cats...
![Evil or Very Mad ](./images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)
I seriously believe witnessing that act would drive me to extreme violence towards those doing so, quite possibly
lethal violence. And I don't think I'd feel bad about it either. Fucking assholes. At the very least I'd beat the living shit outta of them.

If I was starving or on the brink of starvation, I'd eat it. Of course, at that point I'd be eating a lot of stuff I wouldn't otherwise consider. I wouldn't if there were alternatives or I wasn't starving, though. And if I was doing it myself from despiration I'd at least try to be humane about killing the animals I ate.

I wouldn't choose if it were on a menu, but mom would probably have me try it, and i wouldn't say no. Same with cats, but i don't think they have that much meat, nyan.

Blah, when I was in survival school, we got some coyote meat. Neadless to say, I was hungrey so I ate it.
Dogs are scavengers and eat alot of nasty stuff, even pets (my dog eats it own shit for crying out loud), and thus the meat is nasty. For this reason (not even going into munching on Spot or Lassie) I wouldn't unless it was an extreme situation of life and death.
But then again, you'd eat alot of nasty stuff if you were starving.

I would not feel guilty or grossed out by eating dog meat.
I would not eat cat meat, though, but only because I don't think they would taste very good.

So you wouldn't care if I said fuck your country for every thing that SOME of your people do that doesn't fit MY morals? Ok great let's all stoop to your level.
Hindus should fuck you and your country every day for consuming gods in their minds, right? And they should shut the fuck up and shouldn't even try to stand up to you unless they pester their government and majority populace into giving up worship of cows and started chowing down on juicy T-bone steaks, right?

In case you haven't read the OPs links carefully enough or didn't bother to check before spewing profanities, Dog/Cat consumption is banned and the majority of the population doesn't like consumption either.
So wipe your misinformed ass.

Do I hear G.W Bush here? You are either with us or are part of the problem(Even though I told you I'm a member of an animal rights activist group), huh?
Great fucking reasoning.
Rye, I thought you were an OK person since you started posting on this board but this just shows your how self-centered and flawed your sorry excuse for a brain works.
I think I've made my point and you've shown how stupid you are so I won't pollute this board further.
