It's been over a year and a half so far, and we don't show any signs of slowing down. However, things might change in the future, and one of those changes might be the forum's death. What do you think would be the end of the forum?

-Hacker (hack attack or some related trouble causing the forums to go down)
-Gradual loss of interest (Outside influences, such as other forums, or unfair rules lure people away from here)
-Forced shutdown of forum (Despite being active and running without problems, something that occured forces these forums to be shut down)
-The extinction of the human race (SD.net will never die!)
-Other (Something not listed)

I personally think the end will be prompted by a massive troll hit.

Well if Mike died, that might throw a wrench into things. But perhaps he has a backup plan of which I'm unaware.

I'd have to agree with this, the death of a site owner can really kill the site itself. An IRC network I worked with once had this problem too.

Proof that Trek is feasible and all the main site is just nonsense based on fantasy.

Trolls and hackers will combine, the pain of keeping the board a float will be too much. It will come in roughly a year and a half, and a few notable people on the board now will be instrumental in its downfall.

Hmm, good question, I've often thought about this. I don't see this place going belly-up anytime soon.

Well, if we're going that route, we might as well put the board into a time-loop, so that we can watch the heat death of the universe. Over and over again. And maybe make a little money while we're at it.

I would imagine that SD.net will be around until the wife of the house says otherwise. I'm not sure we can compete against that.

Years following the release of SW Ep. III and a much needed hiatus for the Star Trek franchise might slow things down around here due to waning interest in the two primary sci-fi universes that the site is based on.

Lack of interest will eventually kill SD.net. I give us five or six years.
