Anyone read the newspaper today? Someone launched a massive DOS attack on the American backbone net servers and managed to temporarily knock down more then half of them.

Yeah. I was wondering if that had something to do with it, since Olrik can access it just fine.

It's been down here for the past eight hours. How ironic that the moron brigade on SB was twittering with glee only yesterday that SD's boards went down for a short while...

They cheer triumphantly if we have system problems? How charming.

Take it as the accolade it is. They hate you so much yet that's the only thing they have left to crow about!

Not quite.

They were joking about it, rather stupidly at that, but there was no cheering and no insults being flung.

The
moron brigade did, yes. They were very much in the minority however.

Meanwhile...
The SB forums are still down from where I sit.
Is it still down for anyone else or has my ISP screwed up its network infrastructure yet again?

I think your ISP may be one of the servers affected by the DOS attack. That might be why.

That's what I'm thinking.

But wouldn't a DoS against an ISP's DNS disrupt name resolution? What I'm seeing is more like a routing error than anything else. Kier.3dfrontier.com resolves fine (to 209.197.238.148) but packets sent there seem to be getting blackholed by Kier's uplink.
I can't access any of Kier's other sites (
www.ap3d.com, 3dgladiators.com, 3dfrontier.com, agoraforums.com, subspacebbs.com) either.
XaLEv: could you post a traceroute from your location to see if we're both running into problems at the same router? Thanks.

Report for 209.197.238.148
Analysis: IP packets are being lost past network "Time Warner Telecom TWTC-NETBLK-3" at hop 11. There is insufficient cached information to determine the next network at hop 12.
