Holy shit!Where to start on this one Harry. This is a very intriguing and shocking film. At times you cringe at the stupidity of Duffy, and other times you laugh at it. He is vulgar, crude, rude, ignorant, egotistical, and he made an indie film.
This is a documentary that is so intimate and so in-your-face you question wether or not this guy is real.
This is a rags-to-riches-to-rags story of the writer director of "The Boondock Saints," Troy Duffy who is a biggoted foul mouthed uneducated louse who wrote a brilliant post-Tarantino cult film script that caught the attention of alot of people in 1996. Well the screenplay gets bought and you see this guys ego become huge. There is a huge cast of cool extra including Mark Walberg, and Ron Jeremy just to name a couple.
Well to say the least all goes wrong and Duffy's ego goes out of control. There is no way to describe Duffy. He is something straight out of a movie. He is so vulgar, vain, and rude that you would never guess that he really exists. He tells everyone to fuck off, including Weinstein many times, and even Jerry Bruckheimer in a very comical scene. He makes fun of film students in a guest class lecture and literally becomes so paranoid that he leaves his house and arms himself for fear that Miramax studios execs are trying to kill him, which during the Q&A is imbellished by the director and producer.
This is a very well done film, and the fact that duffy is still clueless to the film makes it more intriguing. I am sure when he seesd it he will either go off the deep end, or as the director said in the Q&A "watch it every night."
Overall Brilliant, shocking, and well done 4/4*
