Somebody post here when the frontpage counter hits the magic 1000000 mark!

We should probably clear out the Testing forum as we get closer so that we can be sure the one millionth post is real and not the result of Testing forum spam which will be pruned later.

Can't you just lock it for the night?

We can be sure by subtracting the number of posts in Testing from the counter.

What do they win when they hit this Holy Grail of arbitrary numbers?

And isn't the post counter different according to what usergroups you're in?

Yes, but who cares? Maybe you can be the owner of two or more millionth posts!

Though I'd assume it's a million posts across the board.

Every post has an ID number, and I've calculated what should be the ID number of the One Millionth Post.

No, the main page just doesn't count usergroup forums, regardless. I've actually already already made the millionth post.

Incorrect. The main page counts usergroup forums. The reason the post ID doesn't match the postcount on the main page is post deletion. We would already be well over a million posts on the mainpage if we never pruned the Testing forum or deleted spam.

I guess we could say that your post was the millionth gross post, while the frontpage millionth post will be the millionth net post.

According to what I'm seeing, we only need to make 277 more posts. Could it possible that this milestone could be reached tonight? How about we prune the Testing forum after reaching 1,000,000? That way, up to 3 people can claim to have made the millionth post.

I take it if we go on a spamming spree to try and get the post you'll kill us?

Well, lets see... counting the "you cannot make a new post so soon after your last thing"... 1 post per 10 seconds means a maximum of 60 in 10 minutes.
