That's right, as of 8:40 p.m. on April 27, 2004. One David Heitzenrater of Troop 444 was awarded the rank of Eagle.

And I am SO damn happy. :D :D :D :D :D

When I know when the date of the Eagle Ceremony I will post on the board to tell you all.

Oh, you may all start partying....

Now.

Apparently, in our district it's become VERY strict, it used to be very loose about following the rules and the board of review was pretty easy. But some kid in my troop tried to go around the rules and then they really got strict so my board of review was apparently really tough, I didn't think it was that bad though.

I never made it. Got the one below Eagle, then got my driver's license and stopped giving a shit.

I like certain things about the Boy Scouts but the whole ladder-climbing and hierarchical thing turns me off. Nevertheless, congrats on doing well in it :)

Welcome to the club! I doubt I'm the only Eagle on the board, but I'll be the first to congratulate you.

Now be honest, how much longer until your 18th birthday? I filed my paperwork 10 days early. :D My troop had one of the highest eagle rates in the country, but we didn't manufacture. We just had a bunch of hard-working kids and got maybe 3 or 4 a year. I had a double Court of Honor with my twin brother.

The highest rank an American Boy Scout can achieve. It requires about 4-6 years to work up through the ranks and involves lots of community service and mastery of outdoor and practical knowledge. Only 5% of scouts make it.

Cool. Being an atheist, I don't think they would take me, though...

Hey Cyran, what's with the italics, dude?

Scouts in Australia was pretty lame in my days. I think I got a merit badge for brining in my collection of marbles.

:? When I joined the Navy it didn't give me squat and the recruiter looked at my mother like she was high when she asked about it. It didn't matter rank wise since I went in as an E-3 anyway but we'd been led to believe some other stuff about being and Eagle Scout and the military.

Anyway, congratulations on your hard work.

I got mine rather quickly but after I got it I only did one more merit badge after that, so no palms for me. :) I basically just did the fun Boy Scout stuff for awhile and then I got too involved in other things.

Congrats. I still remember my board of review when I was 14. I thought they were really grilling me. I've had college papers that were less work than the report of my Eagle service project. The big court of honor was a lot of hoopla, lots of local civic people (city councilman, fire dept rep, that sort of thing) giving you certificates, that sort of stuff.

Good job,
I'm just about to start work on my eagle. Lots and lots of fun. Still it'll be worth it.
