Weirdest Band Names Ever
Though a few bands are missing (such as Impaled Northern Moonforest and Arab Kebab - not to mention Cattle Decapitation and The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets), I have never laughed so hard... I mean, there actually are bands called "A Cat Born In An Oven Isn't a Cake", "HIV and the Positives", "Hitler Stole My Potato" and "Once I Killed a Gopher With a Stick"?
BTW - I plan on forming a one-man keyboard-based experimental band... as for names, I'm thinking either on "Skelethön" or "Alien Jehovah", the latter would probably make this list. Perhaps I should one day form a band called "Somebody Actually Called Their Band That" ???
Your opinion?

"Jif and the Choosy Mothers"
Uts and I actually heard about them from our dad. In my opinion, one of the best band names ever.

Another gem:
Carter the Unstoppable Sexmachine
Is it just me, or does this make one hell of a title for a Stargate femslash/yuri fanfic?

It made me laugh. For whatever reason, 'pants', when properly used, is the funniest word in the english language.

Personally i'm particularly partial to Bowling For Soup. They rule. Suprised QOTSA didn't get a mention.

Probably because it's really not that odd of a name.
And no, they're not a joke band!

A lot of those I haven't heard of,
much less thought of, in years. Like The Dayglo Abortions.
Boiled Angel is the name of a notorious underground comic, the band "Boiled Angel" should try an idea of their own sometime.
I saw the Imperial Butt Wizards play in '89, and they really sucked.

When I lived in San Antonio in the late 80s, there was a local punk band called:
"Dill Doe and the Four Skins"
and a buddy of mine who lived in LA in the early 90s told me of 3 bands all called "HEAD"- and sometimes they all played on the same bill!

I'm surprised the Throbbing Gristle are on there- it's not that weird for post-punk. Oh, and Dave Barry mentions Big Dick and the Extenders- he got his boat grounded in Miami Harbour and had to swing out onto the boom to get it back into the water to see them.

What do you guys think of "The Mike Nugent Experience" as a band name?

I'm sort of confused about that as well, considering the fact that both The Barenaked Ladies and one other popular band (who's name I cannot for the life of me remember at the moment) are on the list.

die zwangsversteigerten doppelhaushälften.
roughly translated-"the sold by auction double house halves?"
That is odd.[/quote]
