Problems with search engines

I installed the google toolbar a few months ago. Shortly after I did this, I was unable to access google or any search engine besides MSN. This problem still persists. I can get on to Yahoo but if I try to search it just says that the page cannot be found.
If I type in
www.google.com, I get a message saying that "There is no website configured at this address".
Any ideas?

Well I reinstalled the google toolbar a few times before giving up. I'm using the MSN toolbar currently since its the only one which gives me a working search engine.
As for anti-spyware programmes, I run ad-aware about once a week.

there's some bugs that ad-aware can't pick up, so it's a good idea to have more than one utility, such as cwshredder or spybot. which browser are you using also? it may be compatability issues.

Internet Explorer.
Around the same time I installed the google taskbar I also installed K-meleon. I later uninstalled that as a friend of mine said that it might be causing some compatability problems.
However that didn't change anything.
I'll try installing spybot. Thanks for the advice.

Have you done any virus scans recently? I had this problem earlier in the year, and found out I'd gotten one. For some reason, all it does it keep people from getting on Google.

If you still wan't the google tool bar, you could use firefox. They have one for it. (it's third party, i use it and it's prett nice actually). Also, ditto on the virus scanning etc...

Sounds like K-meleon installed a hijacker. Mosey along to G&C.

How the fuck could K-Meleon install a hijacker? It's fucking built on Mozilla, for fuck's sake. The only thing it has in common with IE is a user interface.
IE is more than likely the culprit. Mosey on over to G&C anyway.

Because I read K-meleon, thought Kazaa and assumed it was a Gnutella client
My bad. Settle down, sparky.

If all else fails you should uninstall the google toolbar and search google the old fashioned way.
