so I go to the school I got thrown out of sophemore yr (some people just cant take a joke) in my nice fancy uniform. meet all my old friends and teachers, most of them going. . . . . . . .. .

cuz they didnt realize I lost a foot of hair. bwhah.

so I go and teach the little rotc kids for two periods, q&a session bout bootcamp. I chat with friends for a while, and start walking home. after 2 miles, a chick from rotc picks me up in her car, drives me home, and we agree to chat again.

And there was much rejoicing...

Congrats Talen. You impressed the kiddies. JROTC types are easy though. My old unit was impressed when I showed up in my whites. Could be because they knew me from the year before though. I had a legend of sorts of being a hardass. Didn't hurt my rep at all when I savaged them on PI.

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. The military-esque program in US High Schools. To teach citizenship, promote patriotism, etc.

You know, sometimes you could just let things slide. Talen related something that happened to him that he liked, and if you found it frivolous and/or uninteresting, you could just have kept your mouth shut instead of being a prick about it. If I see threads I think are stupid or ones that turn out to be frivolous on closer examination, I just leave them be. Some people might find them funny or interesting, and I don't need to be an asshole about them, I can easily find more interesting threads.

So in this context, just piss off and leave people alone, okay? It's a different thing if this was something like the Heartless Things thread where there was plenty of kindling for flamewars with good justification, but it's not, this thread is harmless and a lot less stupid than quite a few others I've seen around.
