I watched the beggining of tonights hockey game with Tampa and Montreal, and when the guy sings the American and Canadian NAs i noticed that everone the players and spectators were not standing still, they were all moving their asses around.
so my poll question is: Do you stand still when you NA is played at a sporting event or during your national holliday?

I stand for the National Anthem at sporting events and when actually required to stand, on the whole, patriotism is not something I waste much time on, I'm proud of my cultural heritage, but I wouldnt call myself patriotic.
And personally, I think our national anthem can sound bloody awful at times.

It's not really cuturally required/normal to always stand for our national anthem I find, but sometimes we do. I'm proud to be an Aussie though!

Yes, for the Russian (which kicks ass) and Amrican (which does not kick ass) anthems.
Have a very nice day.

I stand for anthems, but I can understand shifting from foot to foot, trying to keep legs awake, etc.

I stand when... um... a significant amount of other people stand... or when it's normal to (Sports events, school, etc)
or when I'm feeling patriotic that day.

God Save Our Gracious Queen?
Who gives a shit! Nationality is nothing. I stand when it's my turn to get the beers in.
Though I am a total hypocrit and I often go to see 'Last night of the proms' with my Union Flag, waving it side to side as Rule Brittania and Land of Hope and Glory belt around the concert hall.
Ah
Bah!

Well, as of late when I've been around and it was played, I was in uniform. So yes. Yes I do. And, if I'm outdoors in uniform I salute, too. Otherwise I put my hand over my heart while standing at attention.
No foot shifting for me!
The Gunny would kill me if I did! ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

YAY!
So, has Tampa gotten the cup yet, or is this still gotta drag on?
GO BOLTS!

Not before June since the finals are stretched more with all the teams that have been added to the NHL in the last 15 years, and thats if they can make it all the way.

Yes, I rather fancy the American National Anthem. Very stirring, gives one goosebumps if one has a sense of history. I also like the Marseillaise.

I still stand for the pledge of allegiance (although I omit the "under god" part).
Of course I stand for the national anthem.

I never fail to stand for the Canadian NA. I feel so confident and secure whenever I hear the anthem play, and I am quite critical of those who refuse to be patriotic, because really, if they don't appreciate the country that houses, then they should just be deported to some backwater anyways.

Usually when our National Anthem is being played when I'm around, I'm part of the band playing it. So I'm usually already standing up.

When I'm attending an event, yes. When I'm just watching it on TV, no.

I beg to differ on The Star Spangled Banner.
Unlike the Russian anthem, it's an organic thing that evolved into the kick-ass piece of music it is, Russia's was
engineered, and that recently.
Some other countries that have awesome national anthems include:
Mexico
Turkey
Germany
Canada
Great Britain
France
And one that really sucks:
Japan
