Crysanthemum tea, lots of sleep, and no stupid foods.

Don't go to the Student Health Center. They give you pills that taste worse than chalk. Especially if you caught what I had...

Anything heavy, which is difficult to digest. Heavy starchy stuff, red meat, etc. Go for soup.

No alcohol, no fatty fast foods, no krispy kreme donuts, that kind of stuff.

Would that include grains, ham and cheese... non fatty killed eating at any restaurant (except for the vegetarian smoothie shop...) so I'm just going to buy some things from the drug store

Get an egg, some honey, a bit of salt, and a glass of warm water. Mix and gulp. It sounds horrible, and it IS, but it will clear your sinuses like nothing else.

Ginger tea. I try to drink green tea once a day as well. When I get a really bad cold, I go to the pharmacy and get some strange medicine. It's pretty rancid, but it works.

Drink lots of fluids, like water, oj, anything non-cafinated, juices. Eat bland-ish foods. Get plenty of rest.

What are your symptoms anyway?

Green chile works even better.

Hot chocolate, hot tea, soup, a bath, and some sleep. Of course, I don't get colds often. And if I do, why should it stop me?

What's bothering me is this cold sore on the back of my mouth. I cold sores.

Dunno. I generally just let my colds burn themselves out.

And when I first saw this thread, I thought it said "best way to beat a child".

for me, shitload of fluids, and don't skew the eating habits (works only if the cold/flu isn't too drawn out and nasty). not letting your body know anything's way off will help out, try not to change what you do during the day, etc.

for me when i've got a drawn out bad one, lots of fluids, force myself to eat, and at some point (at night when i don't have to move) i just consciously raise the body temp as high as i can safely handle, burns most colds/flus right out of the system. though most people can't do this. btw, if this doesn't work for me, that generally means my immune system is about to conk out again and that means nasty drugs and a hospital stay. :(

Try vitamin c tablets with zinc they usually stop a cold dead in its tracks.

I'd also recommend getting wine and pouring some into a pot or pan that you put over the stove. Add a couple of lemon peels and some table spoons of sugar. Let the wine heat and then down it (slowly). It goes down so smoothly when you have a bad cold.

One you got a cold all you can do is let it run its course, but there are things that will make you feel better.

I like to get a Citrus Squeeze from Jamba juice. Hot soup helps. Chicken noodle or hot & sour. Chicken corn soup is a good one too.

The thing I hate to do, but I know helps is that Vicks Vapor Rub.

3-4 times the recommended dosage of a cold/flu medication that contains pseudoephidrine. 2 panadeine forte (or similar super-strength pain killer). And a bed. And about 24 hours to pass out for.

Hot Lemon/Honey drink; just hot water with the juice of half a Lemon and a large teaspoon of honey. You can also add grated ginger or rum to give it a boost.

Zinc Acetate lozenges, LOTS of OJ, TONS of garlic, black pepper, chicken soup, and water.

For that sore in the back of your throat, try Cepastat Lozenges. Or any strong sore throat spray.

And do get lots of rest.

Colds suck. :?

I forgot. Gargle with warm water and salt. Helps with that ragged throat feeling.
