I want to was this phrase intentionally written this way or did someone screwed-up the translation?

So its like when the instruction on how to assemble an IKEA bookcase is translated from English to French by a Korean

Why is it when English gets mutilated it's funny, but when someone mutilates another language there will invariably be at least one native speaker of that language that gets righteously indignant?

Because English is unusually tolerent of bad translation. It's fairly obvious what "all you base are belong to us" means, even if it really shouldn't be. Othr languages don't provide this luxury.

A friend of mine introduced me to the All Your Base phenomenon about 3 or 4 years ago.

Six months later, he was dead.
He jumped off the 10 story Math Building (Evans Hall). A classic case of a pot addict's downward spiral.

So, yeah it tickles my funnybone when someone brings up "All Your Base," but then I remember my friend and get sad.
