Ok, I have a project due for tomorrow. Yeah, I know, I should have worked on it earlier. But be nice and help out. Can anyone give me two(2) problems Russia faces with its economy and possible feasible solutions? I'd appreciate it. :?

Just start listing all of the legacy problems from the old regime. Government corruption, an under-educated populace, weak infrastructure, existing industrial base not geared to produce goods which are in demand in a capitalist global economy, etc.

As for remedies, time is a pretty good one

Can you really label Russian's as undereducated though? Unless you are referring to economics and economic theory that is.

He posted at the same time you did. In any case, I was under the impression that rural Russians had poor education, and constituted a large population block. Perhaps I'm out of date.

Russia has a big crime problem. As the organized crime moved into to many areas formerlly controlled by the gov't crime has gotten pretty bad.

Why don't you go do a google search for the CIA World Fact Book, it might list few problems and if not at least it has usefull statistics.

Would pollution, crime and disease count as economic problems?

The Russian mafia today is almost as bad as the Italian mob in 1930s.

Corruption is a must-mention.

Shit, I didn't see the thred till now. Corruption, incompetence and/or indiference of the politicians is a factor. So is organized crime, although they're not as shamelessly open about it as they were in the 90s. Don't forget Mr. Dobbie and his band of merry ex-KGB men controlling the government. As for the solutions shooting every beurocrat above a certain position and firing the rest should work. So would time.

Have a very nice day.

Not much help then. I think I was handing it in then. But it's ok. And to the rest of you, thanks a bunch. Just checked this at school in computers class this morning. And handed it in just in time. I am now nominating you all for major Karma points. :D

And BTW, I am now finishing work on a French project. And It's not the night before... :D I learned my lesson.
