Well, due to a lack of anything new and interesting to read in physical form, for use during my lengthy breaks at Wal-mart, I've decided to have a magazine-style copy of Conquest printed for my personal use. Since there is no cover, I used Photoshop to make one using the lovely Price of Defiance by Ansel Hsiao (Fractalsponge) as cover art. You can view it here (1.62 MB PNG image).

So guys, what are your thoughts, especially regarding the blurb on the back?

Oh, Mike, on the slight chance that you might be interested in adding this to the PDF, I do have both parts of the cover conveniently saved as separate .PSD files. Of course, you'd need Fractalsponge's permission first, but that's blatantly obvious.

Well, a blown up Fed ship would be a nice addition.

I saw that picture somewhere in a & p a while back, so it's not all that interesting, the lettering's good, but it just looks like a star wars thing, rather than trek as well.

That's why you need a graveyard of Fed ships encompassing that planet and the two ISDs!

Alas, if I had any artistic skills, I'd do just that. Also, after getting a ghastly quote on the job, I've decided not to have it made. I like Conquest a lot, but ~$120 USD is a bit too rich for my blood.

(This is also further of an incentive for yours truly to get cracking on a cover for my 'Best of Both Worlds' crossover )

Not bad. In fact, I might just reread Conquest now.

Of course, we are missing the obvious question here.

What is the opinion of the master himself, Darth Wong, of this cover?

That sure has alot of body copy for a magazine cover. It looks great, but there is too much text on it for my blood. Also, you my want to put Mikes name under the title since he's the author.

Hey, at least I didn't use the terribly overused Comic Sans MS.

Gil, there were three major reasons why I put Mike's name at the bottom of the cover. One, most of the Star Wars novels I own have the author's name at the bottom. Two, it's easier to read white text against the dark corner of the drive section than against the light gray bridge tower. Three, I thought it looked better that way.

No, you see, that would have resulted in your mutiliation.

Recommend losing the verbage and adding bunches of destroyed and mutilated Federation ships, perhaps even next to the wormhole ring, vice Earth.

Well, I'm sorry that I assumed a fanfic would be in the fanfic section, and so when I couldn't find it in a search, I decided to ask.
