Do you think I've been scammed?

Back in my junior year, I was classmates with this guy who claimed to have his sweat glands removed. Sounds like a bullshit scam to me. He would say that he was nervous and sweaty, and he was fired from Best Buy for doing backflips off the computer monitors.

err. don't you need sweat glands to like. . .live and stuff? without 'em your body would become much too hot and you'd have no natural way of cooling down.

I'd love to see the surgeon that performed this. I bet it took a fair few years to do.

In other words, bullshit. Much like having ever hair follicl removed.

He said he needed them removed or he'd die. But then he would go batshit insane during class and talk about being nervous and sweaty~

This guy didn't behave well and always feigned kung-fu kicks at people when he was feeling hyper

The guy may have had hyperhidrosis, in which case you have special drugs that can combat it like hormone therapy or antiperspirants.

Now the axillary sweat glands can be removed, but only in extreme cases if other treatments fail. This is not, however, all of the sweat gland which is a tad bit impossible.

So he's either a bullshitter, or so stupid he doesn't understand when the doctor explained what they were going to do to save his life.

It's not so much "save his life" unless you put it in terms that "life" equates to living normally. Only in extreme cases, IIRC, does it really threaten health and then you'd need psychotherapy too I believe.

But he'd be more accurate in saying he had "certain sweat glands" removed and not just "sweat glands removed".

There ARE surgical treatments for sweat glands. Well, not really remove them but severe the nerves that innervate them from the spinal cord. I don't think you can remove them without peeling away someone's skin over the afflicted area right down to the subcutaneous tissue.

As I said, you can take care of the major ones that cause such problems since these are in large clusters and can be operated on without hassle. There is also liposuction which aids in this condition.

I'm wondering whether Hamel's friend was on the large side.

Nah it can happen all at once all you need is some massive full body burns that will take em right off.
