Well self-hypnosis worked

At least for me.

I had a toothache and a co worker told me to follow the steps from this page:

And now the ache is gone just a numb feeling :)

Mind I am still going to see a dentist but they didn’t have and free time until Friday, so this was an excellent alternative to painkillers.

How come that this works?

[EDIT] Sorry. Best guess, by hynotising yourself you 'fool' yourself into ignoring the pain. As you say, it was numb rather than painful - that means (I think) the signal still goes to the brain, but the brain just doesn't want to hear it.

Looks like a bit of quackery, but I'll look into it. My dad is an anesthesiologist, so he should know more of this than I :D
