Victory Song; Funeral Song

Post by Lord Poe »

What is your "Victory" song? You know, the one that should play at 120 decibles from hidden speakers everytime you accomplish something great? Mine is "Rollercoaster (Of Love)", the version from the "Beavis and Butthead Do America" soundtrack.

Also, what song do you want played at your Funeral? Mine is "Come Sail Away" by Styx!

Don't have a victory song.

Funeral song I'd like Adagio for Strings
'After 9/11, it was "You're with us or your with the terrorists." Now its "You're with Straha or you support racism."' ' - The Romulan Republic

'You're a bully putting on an air of civility while saying that everything western and/or capitalistic must be bad, and a lot of other posters (loomer, Stas Bush, Gandalf) are also going along with it for their own personal reasons (Stas in particular is looking through rose colored glasses)' - Darth Yan

Don't have a Victory song, really... too many to chose from right now.

Funeral Song, however, is simple. "Amazing Grace". Hopefully on bagpipes, but it could be sung as well.

Victory Song: "Can't Touch This", MC Hammer. Just because. :P

EDIT: I would like to add "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot, for the after sex victory song. :D

Funeral Song: I don't plan that far down the road...I'm only 15! I'm too young, beautiful, sexy, etc. to die! :D

Victory Song: Finale from Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. Or the choral finale from his Symphony No. 9 (Ode to Joy)

Funeral Song: The Marcia funebre 2nd Movement from Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica". It's simply the best piece of classical music in existence.

I think I'd probably co-compose both with my friends from music school.

Victory: "Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine. Not because it's especially uplifting, but because it's my favorite song ever.

Funeral: "The Ghost of Tom Joad" by the Boss. It speaks of a final end, but hope remaining. Plus the harmonica makes me sad as hell. :(

Of course, I plan to live forever, so I shouldn't need the second one. :D

Funeral: Not having a funeral, I'm having a WAKE! (so something lively, perferably Irish Folk, or U2, or Clannaed)

Concurred, but definitely bagpipes for me.

My Victory Song would be AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock".

There's no way I could pick one for victory, I've choices for every single sort of victory. ;)

As for funeral though...it'd have to come down to a short list.

Blind Guardian - The Bards Song, In the Forest
Apocalyptica - Unforgiven
Lone Piper - Flower of Scotland
"Prodesse Non Nocere."
"It's all about popularity really, if your invisible friend that tells you to invade places is called Napoleon, you're a loony, if he's called Jesus then you're the president."

Funeral Song: Bonnie Portmore. Doesn't matter what version or which singer. Oh, and a shit load of booze.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Victory song: "The Touch" by Stan Bush. Nothing beats the feeling you get when this starts playing in Transformers: The Movie after Prime says, "Megatron must be stopped...no matter the cost" and then proceeds to single-handedly beat the shit out of the Decepticon attack force.

Funeral song: "The Parting Glass" as performed for Waking Ned Devine, arranged by Shaun Davey.

Victory:

Some odd medley of 'We are the Champions', 'I Stand Alone', and 'Let the Bodies Hit the Floor'.

The inclusion of the last one sounds a bit..demonic, eh?

Dropkick Murphy has a kickass version of Amazing Grace on bagpipes and distortion guitar.
