[HELP]Getting a TV signal with no ariel?

I have brought to Uni with me an ancient TV so I can watch the Cricket that starts tomorrow. However, the TV has no external ariel. At home, this is fine - I can still get a signal. But here I don't have such luck - being in an area notorious for a poor reception, I cannot get even sound, never mind a picture.

Thus, does anyone have any tips on what I could do, short of buying an ariel [which, because I am only here for a few more days, I'm not going to do]? My mother suggested a wire coat hanger, but I tried that and got no positive response from the TV.

Just a coat hanger won't do - you'll have to somehow get the signal from the antenna to the coaxial or UHF input. If it's coax, you'll probably need an actual coax wire, but if it's UHF I guess you can try stringing some thin wire from the antenna to the input maybe...

A coat hanger worked actually - it required a bit of messing with, and a bit of foil, but I can now receive all 5 terrestrial channels. I am happy. :)
