Lord Stanley's Cup now shines under the Tampa Bay Sun

Oh was it a night of satisfying moments. Fedotenko two-goal vengeance for the brutal facial laceration that put him out in Game Three, Bulin shining as a goaltender as always, and seeing forty-two-year-old Dave Andreychuk kiss the Cup after waiting twenty-two years.
Good game Calgary, but the Cup now rests in Tampa Bay, Florida, USA.
Congratulations to all on a gorgeous season!

This can only end in the carpet bombing of Florida. Hopefully they'll avoid my place in Orlando. I mean, even the Canadians must like Disney right?
EDIT: And damnit, someone beat me to the punch on the attacking Florida joke.

Well we can't come down too hard on the Canadians, some of our stars like Vinny Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis, are, well, French-Canadian.
Still...
Canada (especially Calgary): [Nelson]HAHA![/Nelson]

Translation: The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto lends you guys the Cup for a few weeks so you can have your parade and take pictures and stuff.
BTW, did you know that there's 15 Canadian players on the Tampa Bay team and 16 on the Calgary team? I didn't think you guys had imported that many of us.

I would say kidnapped not imported.

Yep. Send all fourteen of your soldiers down!
This can only end in the carpet bombing of Florida.
Unless you mean Canadian soldiers chartering a Learjet and actually dropping carpets...then, well...no.
Congrats to All in the NHL. Perhaps next year, Canada

Well, There's always the olympics this summer....

Translation: Calgary lost, and the fact that the Hockey Fall of Fame is in Toronto doesn't change the fact Tampa won the Cup, or the sweet taste of victory. In fact its totally irrelevent.

The ability to read is pretty important, methinks. [points upward]

This is Ice Hockey right? If so, isn't it deliciously ironic that a city known for its humid hot weather has stolen the cup from a city renowned for it's hockey prowess?

In the meantime, the Philadelphia curse continues, this time with a sure-thing Triple Crown snatched away in the last furlong by a horse that got spanked in the Derby, rested while Smarty ran the Preakness, and then ran the Belmont for the money.

It is indeed.
P.S.: It is 84 degrees Fahrienheit and 90% humidity tonight...and I watched the game from the beach.
Ahh...the Sunshine State.

I was waiting for this day, just for the pure simple pleasure of watching Philadelphia boo a horse.

w00t!
As I have been spreading earlier:
SUCK IT CALGARY! SUCK IT HARD!
Mere logic and reason (Toronto loans it, Canadians on Lightning, and other assorted whining and moaning) means nothing compared to the fact that the Tampa Bay Lightning, a
Florida team won it. Against...a
Canadian team no less!
And this, despite Calgary's attempts to take out our players via what in the civilian world would probably be felony assault, at least.
Bwahahahaha!

Total bullshit. Calgary should have won Game 6 3-2 on that goal-that-supposedly-wasn't.

Bullshit, that puck did not fully cross the line.

The hell it didn't. It was over the entire line by a full centimeter at the least.

Fuck no. Both computer projections of its location AND the above camera view caught it still crossing the red (albeit about a quarter through) when Bulin kicked it free. The forward camera angle itself is no indicator because its near-impossible to scale distances that way, particularly down to a cm vs. a surface line.

in typical Florida fashon, the outcome of yet another event is thrown into controversy.

Don't you have any hanging chads to count?
BTW: ABC showed the computer enhanced pictures last night at the first intermission. Only a third of the puck crossed the line. NHL rules clearly state that the puck must be completely across the line for the goal to count.
and finally: [Nelson Muntz] Ha-Hah! You're Canadian! [/Nelson Muntz]

Congratulations, Tampa. You've done what San Jose couldn't do given the same number of years. I tip my hat to you, and warn you to watch your back.
And about this "on loan" bullshit, remind me, when was the last time Toronto won the Cup? Oh, that's right, it was 1967. That was only seventeen years before I was born.

We're not booing the horse, for the same reason we didn't boo St. Joe's or the Flyers--he did his best and lost to a superior opponent. Except the opponent wasn't superior, just rested, because under thorougbred racing rules, you can skip the Preakness and still run in the Belmont. I wonder if Affirmed or Seattle Slew would have won the Triple Crown if their opponents hadn't run the same three races they did. We might have had a couple Triple Crown winners in the 90s and early 00s if racing disqualified anyone who skipped the Preakness from the Belmont.

On the one hand, I HATE John Tortorella like I've never hated someone affiliated with the hockey world other than Doug Weight and Chris Pronger. On the other hand, I also hate Ninimaa and Kippersoff's a traitor. On balance, I guess I'm okay with the Lightning winning, and at least it was a fun series to watch.
