Now now, don't be badmouthing them. They had the class to provide
pasta to their troops in the
desert

Don't quote pictures. There are far greater jokes in WW2 then the Italian army anyway, without it Rommel would have been fucked.

The Tankettes win, hands down....
...when dropped on the Tiger II from the belly of an XB-19 at 20,000 feet.

By my calculations the Tiger would face nearly 30 CV33's. Which are only armed with a machine gun or two (and only 6.5mm at that).
So Tiger wins.

A significant percentage of CV33's had a flamethrower, which at close range could be a threat to any tank.

Did they now?
I'd still expect the Tiger to prevail, but it's not a certainty then.

The tankettes. They just drive away for half an hour and wait for the Tiger to break down

. Mechanical reliability left a lot to be desired.
(Or they lure it into terrain where the 76 1/2 ton tank will sink...the damn thing outweighs an Abrams)

Hey, the Italains problem was they didnt want to be in the war in the first place, hardly good for morale. When they
wanted to they could and did fight as well as the Germans.

Been playing with the scenario editor on CMBB or CMAK Shep?
Seriously, the only problem the Tiger II faces is running out of ammo here, and the 88/L71 gun is major overkill on teensy Tankettes
**for that matter, a 1942-era Sherman may as well be an M1A2 vs them --- it's not a pretty sight, believe me
edit: So, a Tiger II at 70 metric tons, vs equal # in weight......carry the 3

.....
okay, so thats 1 x Tiger II vs 23 x C33 (rounded down)
DEFINTELY not a pretty sight

LOL, even assuming infinite ammo, I was thinking that with WW2 era fire-stabilization, at least one of those 23 Fiats-on-treads could get close enough to score a tread hit & thus a "soft-kill", but I'm not convinced those silly little guns could even take out a tank tread!!
Come to think of it, the 1:35 scale Tiger II sitting on the shelf in front of me is probably a closer match

The thing is armed with twin rifle caliber machine guns normally, not even any form of shitty little cannon. Destroying a track isn;t really an option, though the blast from the flamethrowers could be very damaging to the rubber on the road wheels and the engine.
