Very simple but perhaps profound implcations
What if Mike Wong had been born Mike Wang?
No diffrence in his parents at all except that they where the Wangs not the Wongs, Simple one letter change
How would it have affected his life?
Think that over for a while and then post your thoughts

He'd be exactly the same as before, only different.

He'd have had alot more teasing and taunting when he was growing up.
Hell I got so much teasing and taunting when growing up, because of the Teddy Ruxpin show, that I'm now practically immune to it.

There are people with "wang" as a last name. I feel sorry for them.

That's alright, there was a criminal case I was involved in as an intern many years ago where a Chinese gang had been busted the night before and the various members were being arraigned. Each had to give his name and his plea.
One of the gang members gets up and when asked his name he says very seriously.
"Fuck you."
The Judge gets a little upset and he says. "Sir behave yourself and state your name for the record."
"Fuck you." More serious now and in some annoyance.
The judge is incensed at thsi point and he says thatunless he stops cursing he will have him remanded to the Tombs and his arrisgnment would be postponed until he apologized to the court.
His legal aid lawyer desprately is looking through teh paper work, unsure why his client is acting like this. He stops and explains that his cleint's name is actually "Phuk Yu."
The court officers can't stop laughing and the judge shakes his head and says: "Sir, I don't know what your mother was thinking but let's go on."
All true.

My last name rhymes with Testes, so I feel I can identify here.
Having a last name like that does not make childhood easy. From 6th grade till around 10th grade, I was identified by nothing other than "Testes."

I can imagine it now: Darth Wang, Big Cock for the Dark Side.
The real hilarity is that his penchant for Star Wars pr0n would still be the same.

Actually, it'd probably be increased.

There was a girl in my school whose last name was Dick.
Her father's first name was reputed to be Harry. Whether that was really true or not I don't know for certain but I do know from seeing names on our hospital census that there are a lot of evil parents out there.

My dad knew a guy whose name (last name I believe) was Bombardier.
He knew another guy whose last name was Killer.
Interesting....

Maybe Mr. Wang would have been made fun of so much that he resented having anything to do with....that area and it would have had the reverse effect.

My first name is Nigel. You will not believe how much ribbing I got about it.
(Nigel sounds like "nipple" in Cantonese.)

I actually have a Professor X. Wang right now for Solid Mechanics. We joked that we were glad we did not have him for Fluids.

I would venture Mike would be a far more angry individual with a far greater capacity for insulting and mocking people as well as having an even larger sex drive then he does...

The stuff he'd have to put up with as a kid would either make him into a complete reject who's afraid of sex, or he'd end up being even more depraved than he is now.
On a related topic, one of my teacher's name is Bedwell, and he informed us that his sister had to put up with more shit than you can imagine.

Sure. Some English speakers may think of "Wang" as hilarious, but it cuts both ways. When I tell some Koreans that I have an Uncle Bob, they fall over laughing. Why? "Bob" is very similar to "bap" in Korean which means "rice". Ha ha. You have an Uncle "Rice". What a hoot! Needless to say, some moronic expats like to make fun of certain Korean names such as "Young-bum". Mind you, Koreans can write their name in Chinese which bestows the true meaning of their name. I believe Young-bum means "dragon".

Its funny. My first thought about Wang vs. Wong is that more than likely it is the same name. So Mike would not be any different except for where his ancestors are from. People who speak mandarin tend to be Wang's and cantonese folks tend to Wong. But in cantonese Wong can mean king or the color yellow. You have to see the character to tell the difference.
Anyway, now that I realize people are making a connection to ding dongs, I think Mike would have founded the website called
www.wildwangs4whitewomen.com.
