Another purge

I have just exterminated roughly 150 users who signed up more than a month ago and had not yet posted anything. May their names be soon forgotten.
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

How would we learn their names if they never posted? I mean true, there is that "Our latest newbie is" on the top right- but I doubt most people check that on a regular basis. I mean, there is really nothing to forget.....AdmiralKanos wrote:I have just exterminated roughly 150 users who signed up more than a month ago and had not yet posted anything. 4+ years at apolyton had gave me <50 posts, thanks to no post counts in Off topic forums.
True. But also, less opportunities to mock others who make asses of themselves.Archaic` wrote:Indeed it is. Less opportunities to make an ass of yourself.
Then again, it also makes it much harder to join the BotM. Oh well, everything in life is a tradeoff...
Why do i have the feeling there is something hovering above to squish me?Stormbringer wrote:Any chance we can carry that purge over to people that annoy me?
You've got a Sword of Damacles hanging in your closet just for that day, don't you?Stormbringer wrote:Any chance we can carry that purge over to people that annoy me?
Deleting those accounts would result in dozens, maybe hundreds of posts in the regular forums by "Guest". Most of them would be in long-buried threads, but it's still undesireable.evilcat4000 wrote:There are also users registered over a year ago who made less than 1 or two posts.
It wouldn't be a big deal if you had. All you would have had to do was sign up again. You could have even used the same name, if I understand how the database works correctly.Fighter of Foo wrote:I'm lucky users weren't purged when I first joined. I'm pretty sure that there was a good long while where I totally forgot about my account here until a friend reminded me.
I don't have a problem with lurking, but as I see it, if someone is going to register to only look at the threads, they could at least bother making a post every once in a while, even if it's not a major contribution.Gil Hamilton wrote:I see no point in lurking. Actually, I'd wear I saw that before, they didn't go to just being called "Guest" but just had no more link to their name. But the name itself was still there.RedImperator wrote:Deleting those accounts would result in dozens, maybe hundreds of posts in the regular forums by "Guest".
