Worst cover tunes - ever!

Post by Col. Crackpot »

well, you heard Comic Book Guy! In the Spirit OF darthdavid's best cover tunes thread, what are the worst cover tunes ever?

my vote: Since I Don't Have You by Guns and Roses

be specific. Nominating Anne Murray's entire song catalouge, while tempting isn't an option.

I'd have to say Limp Bizkit's cover of The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes", if only for the goddamn disgusting masturbatory self-aggrandizing name-dropping they injected into the song.

I'd pick the cover of Summer Breeze that plays over the opening of I Know What You Did Last Summer. The band who did it (don't know, don't care) turned a mellow little soft-rock song into lame wannabe death-metal crap.

I agree. The Who's version would be the better one anyway, but the "L-I-M-P" etc. really screws it up.

Devo's version of Head like a Hole by NIN is horrible.

White Lion's cover of Radar Love (originally by Golden Earring) was just tacky.

Geri Halliwell's cover of It's Raining Men was quite horrible too... I'm not big on that sort of music, though - but still...

Twisted Tower Dire also made a cover of a Manowar song called Revelation.... TTD's version wasn't bad by any means, it just paled in comparison to the original. (the drums were too low in the mix, and TTD's vocalist is of course not on level with Eric Adams)

Madonna covering "American Pie" was dreadful, and there's a live cut of Nirvana covering Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" out there which is absolutely brutal.

Is it just me or does Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" get covered by bands way too frequently?

Ick, it's horrible. It's for the best that you've not heard it.

Metallica's covers of "Die Die My Darling" and "Last Caress/Green Hell."

Actually, I don't much care for any of Metallica's cover. Might not be a popular opinion but...

Not to mention hearing Fred Durst croon about how awful his life is makes me want to strangle chipmunks. Nothing like hearing an rich ignorant white trash hack who can get all the pussy he wants sing about how nobody understands him. Fuck you, Fred. If this were a just world, you'd be pumping gas for a living.

I've got 1 or 2, Madonnas - American Pie was disgusting, as was Britney Spears - I love Rock and Roll.

I also can't stand Marilyn Mansons - Tainted Love, although My Ruin do a great version of it.

Sorry, hated it. Which is strange as I like most of his stuff. The only good thing about his version is the video and the girl he's with in the hot-tub!

How about that fucked up Jessica Simpson song that's been playing lately. "Take my breath away" is about the worst fucking cover I've ever heard.

  • Any covers in Metallica's song catalog
  • Feel Like Makin' Love - Kid Rock
  • The Durst abortion, as has already been mentioned
  • Puff Daddy's entire song catalog (not exactly covers, but you know what I mean
  • One time I had the misfortune of hearing Creed covering The Doors' Light My Fire. I don't really want to talk about it.

Oh, god. I swear she ought to burn in hell for that if there is any justice in this world. She managed to fuck up a song from Top Gun, the coolest musical ever!

Apparently thats not a cover (or theft) because there's an extra *doo-doo* or something in the opening...

William Shatner covers have redeeming value; they're all comedy gold.
