That is a picture of a ruler of the Hawaian Islands around the 18th century. His name is Kamehameha I. If i didn't find it on a history website I would of thought it to be completely bull shit.

FUCK! I thought I was in Off-Topic. Oh well, if a mod doesn't like it he can promptly kiss my ass, and then move it.

Well, after typing in Kamehameha into the google picture search I was very surprised not to find many DBZ related pics.

Well, you do know that Toriyama named the DB attack after the Hawaiian king, right?

Really? I thought it meant "Turtle Wave Fist" or something.

That said, I was quite surprised when I first heard of a Hawaiian King called Kamehameha. (Before this thread)

IIRC, his wife is the one who suggested it.

DING DING DING!!!!

That's right. He couldn't think of a good name for it, and asked his wife for her opinion. She was either watching or had recently watched a TV programme about Hawaii, and mentioned the name Kamehameha. Toriyama liked it, so he used it in the manga.

Viewers of Magnum P.I. would be familiar with the name, too.

And if I'm hearing things right The Rock from the WWF will be starring in a movie based on the life of Kamehameha. I read that in a TV Guide I think within the last year or so.

Imagine the hordes of DBZ kiddie-fans who turn up at the theaters...only to find, to their disappointment, that the movie has nothing to do with DBZ.

Try imagining DBZ fans and WWF fans having a rumble outside the theater with their fave character's signature moves, that would be a sight to watch, and will likely end up in the next Jackass movie.

So do I.

I prefer the manga and the Japanese version of the anime. I'm just watching it on CN to see what happens.
