My scifi-art/graphic pic prompted a small discussion on if it would be a good idea to add a graphic art forum to SD. In the interests of trolling for a larger body of opinion on the matter, please note the poll above.

Enlightenment I would love to see your art, your ship images are just cool! So I wouldn't mind an art section. But I guess it's up to Mike and how much bandwith he can handle.

Crown: Thanks. Since you'd like to see more I'll direct you to my webpage (address in my profile), where I currently have 9 3D pieces and 8 photos on display.

As for bandwidth it'd be no worse than an ordinary forum as anyone who posted images there would need to provide their own hosting in much the same way that anyone who uses graphical sigs or graphical insults (etc) needs to do at the moment. The biggest 'difficulty' would probably be that it's just one more forum on the main page and one more forum to moderate. As far as the latter problem is concerned I'll volunteer to moderate a hypothetical graphics art forum if the current mod team is too busy or didn't want to worry about another fourm.

Most definitely. If we do get one, I'll try scanning in some of my drawings. I know I can get a digital picture of any paintings I do.

We might make it the Fanfic/Fanwork forum but we don't want to get the 500 forums of SB look

1. yes, combine fanfic to create fanworks
2. Visit SB sometime, god, we got 9 forums on the front, they got 6, if we count their sub-forums too they have 9 too

yes, an artwork section would be cool.

You could always stop by SB. Most of the people who post in the Art & Support forum love to see new pictures and will give you constructive comments and answer any question (usually)

I think it's a pretty good idea to remake the FanFic Forum into FanFics/Fan Art.

Plus, it'd allow you to avoid SB entirely.

EDIT: I do have a question, though. Would that allow us to post non-sci fi art?
