So, I'm thinking that icky cafeteria crap and brown paper bags with peanut butter sandwiches would both be demoralizing to see next year, and since I am an idle college student who likes going to bed and getting up early, why not get a bento box and some nice chopsticks and prep a decent o-bento every morning.
Has anyone else done this on a regular basis in the past? I'd like some advice. I'm handy enough in the kitchen, but I don't want to take *too* long every day, about an hour would be just right.

When I do bento for lunch, all told it takes me about forty-five minutes to an hour before hand to prepare.

I find it easier to make my lunches the night before. The easiest and quickest way, if you're an idle bugger like me, is to go to a supermarket and get some ready made sauces, then just cook your meat and veg and whack the sauce in, pop it on some rice in a sealable box, and then nuke it when you want to eat it.
I usually go for curry though, rather than a bento. Saves me from the hideousness of the work canteen.
