Hey, this actually ties into my other post on resisting torture. I've been curious for a while on whether or not you can actually increase your will power. If so, how?

Watch "Kevin and Perry Go Large" over and over and over again. Its like the Ludovico treatment, but it will make you immune to all forms of pain.

very easy to increase your mind's hold on the body, just make damn sure you know what you're tweeking before you tweek it. nerves are straightforward at least, once you learn to shut down nerves as needed just about everything drops into place for control.

Yeah, I find that some meditation techniques I learnt from some Buddhist monks (no, really...) are damn handy for blocking out pain and distractions.

It's something that I think starts coming naturally with physical training. Instead of focusing on your fatigue, or anything related to it (Even encouraging yourself to work harder makes it more difficult), you begin to focus on the task at hand. Another way my coach guy recommends is focusing on the lesser parts of something. Such as when I'm running, if I get tired, I focus my attention on my arms. Why? The Rub-the-stomach-and-pat-the-head effect comes in. Your arms start moving faster, and so unconsiously do your legs. Not only that, your arms aren't tired from the work, so you can focus on them while not feeling your legs at all. But GOD does it hurt when you stop moving.

I can justify this...I mean look at me. I am ALWAYS awake...I have been up since 630 Sunday evening. It is now 130 AM Tuesday. I'll be up till late tonight. I had three hours of sleep about 13 hours ago. Now if willing sleep dep isn't will power, I don't know what is.
PS: This time the sleep dep is welcome....before it wasn't, really...but I HAVE grown used to 36 hour days. Literally.

Study with Buddist Monks, Best way, Escpilly since we learned Catholic monks are ... *Cough cheating, learn from fokes who have to supress natural instincts for ther entire lives and are succesful about it + they can stand pretty much anything else
Of course one does not have to traval to Asia to learn these things, From what I understand the Zen Buddists of Japan acutal offer classes in this sort of thing (Emotional/body control) which for a nomial fee they will teach you the basics, Of course you won't be able to stand in 50*F Weather while raining and not shiver but its a pretty close start
Also the Matrial Arts Training pratice of Akido teachs many mind/body things as welll
You have a few options, my first suggestion is to look for the nearest Zen Buddist Temple if not aviable or to far, case the Dojo's and look for one that has an Akido Master

what about mental self control? I mean I have very little of that. I'm on meds but they are not helping. For example I will make a public commotion all because I can't call home- that's why I got beat up and suspended from school.

I'm not sure where the line between what you can control and what is out of your control is. I'd like to believe that with enough will power you can fight your way though anything, even mental problems. If not, I'm not sure I want to keep playing.

Ithink my body has defined its own will power as far as sleep...I got 53 hours awake, went to bed, and my body decided it only needed three hours of sleep. I've been up 11 hours since then, and not feeling tired at all.

Take up smoking, get addicted, stop cold turkey.
That'll build willpower.
Oh yeah if you fail that means you're a useless decrepit husk of a human, unfit for evolution and the weak shall be exterminated.
Chaos through warfare. Evolution through bloodshed. Perfection through Victory.

Concentration and lots of it... when you can stay focused on a task when you have 7-15 young boys doing everything to stop you from completing the task, then you have succeded (especially if the task involves teaching the youth to do something...)

Good for you. Seriously. Smoking is probably the second dumbest popular activity in North America (right behind Christian fundamentalism, which rots your brain rather than your lungs), but I'm told the things are very addictive.

Strengthening will-power is easy. Don't tempt yourself, and don't listen ot what your body tells you. If your body tells you to jump off a cliff, would you do it?

That sounds kind of off. Tuning into your body, and what your body is telling you, is something that athletes learn to do. It seems like tuning that out is cutting off something that might be important.
