I went to pick up my copy of what could be the coolest video game of all time at Toys R' Us this afternoon at my lunch hour. I picked it up of the shelf, and skipped happily off to the counter and gave it to the retail clerk. AND I GOT FUCKING CARDED!!! I couldn't believe it. I'm 23 yrs old, and I haven't been carded at a bar since I was 20. Yet some turd of a retail clerk decides that I don't have enough gray hair or something, and asks for my ID. My jaw dropped to the floor and my heart sank as I reached for my wallet, and realized I only had the cash I was going to fork over for the game. The clerk said sorry, he couldn't make the sale unless he could verify that I was 17, and legally able to buy an "Mature" rated video game. Now, I have to wait until tomorrow to get my copy. FUCKING GOD DAMN ASS MONKEY!!!!

That's just freakin' great. Are there laws or something where the store will loses it's license to sell video games because someone below the age of 17 bought a Mature rated game? Geez. I've seen people prevented from buying tickets to R rated movies but in their case it was very obvious that they weren't 17.

Maybe you should look into buying the game somewhere else.

They tried to card me once when I picked up the orgional PC GTA3 so I hauled out my Concile Carry Permit.

Him: Sir we need to see a Driver's Liscence or somthing similar before we can let you buy this game
Me: Sure here take this
Him:Whats is it?(Reaching for Card)
Me:Oh its my Conciled Carry Permit, I have a few of the things, see I have to get one for each of the guns I have on me now(Dig back in pull three more cards out a random and keep my face strait as his eye's bludge out)

Helps when you don't have a baby face and dress respectably though. Grow a beard and/or don't shave every day, but always tuck your shirt in and they think your in your late 20's.

Normally, I do carry my ID with my wallet at all times, but for some reason I took my wallet out while I was at work, and left it sitting on my desk. For the life of me, I can't think of a single reason why I would have taken my wallet out while sitting at work - it's something I just don't need to do.

The frustrating thing was that before asking for my ID, the clerk made small talk and said that they had 52 copies of Vice City when they opened, and they were down to 4 after three hours of selling. I hope that they're getting in another shipment today, because if they're all out when I go back at lunch hour today I might go ballistic.

Oh, and GTAIII totally hauls ass. I'd give my left testicle to have a game like that on my game design resume. I need to get Vice City and, um, study it's gameplay techniques and innovations. Yeah.

No word on a PC version just yet. Might be 8-10 months from now, for all we know.

Bastard, I need a PS2 now, I have one at home (or my bro has :p) with GTA3 but being at Uni I can't bloody use it.

Hopefully when I get a PS2 I can get GTA4 and The Getaway too. Next time I'm up in Scotland I'm going to find the studio that made GTA (DMA Design, they made Lemmings!) and give them all a pat on the back.

Hey, looks like they're releasing 5 different soundtracks on CD from the agme too, looks sweet.

Probably 6 months before GTA3 is released for the PC.

Yeah, I'll wait for the PC version this time too. I have heard that it is a console exclusive with Sony BUT the publishers say it will still be available on PC and Mac (snicker).

Also DMA Design is now called Rockstar Studios North to seem closer to their US publishers Rockstar Games.
