I'm suprised no one's yet picked up on and tried to twist the fact that anytime Papa Smurf writes some "Magic Symbols", it's actually just Japanese characters.

Though considering that Toei Animation (The same guys who animated Dragonball Z, I kid you not) worked on the Smurfs in some role or another (I remember them getting mentioned in the credits, though I'm not sure in what role), I guess it's not that big a suprise.
