Yes games can teach you some things about war and combat. Look at Rainbow 6, SWAT etc, a significant portion of the training in that game relates to training the user in paramilitary tactics. However all this training is fucking useless without real life experience.
I am proficient with fire-arms (know the safety drills and can shoot with passable accuracy) but just because I can play Rogue Spear on Elite doesn't mean that I'll be accepted into the SAS without hesitation.
The chief problem remains the availability of guns and deep-rooted social problems that the general public are unwilling do deal with. As such, they blame games. A convenient scapegoat.

Well you see, its a very complex process. Firstly, they manipulate one of their appendages so that it is behind thir torso. Second, they then twist the digited manipulator on the appendage's end so it is aligned with the nearest orifice. Then propel the manipulator through the opening, clamp the digits together to clamp on to whatever they may find, and then pull the manipulator out of the orifice. They now have the material in question available and ready for use.

In the news media, for example. They mention Doom as the game they found in a shooter's room.
You know what else they found in his room? Air. Oh no, now we must ban air. So nobody will ever kill again.
Stupid fucks, association does not mean causation.

I find it highly ironic that any ex-military officer would complain about anything that contributes to teaching our youth how to shoot and kill. I guess it's okay if the government is doing the teaching and when the killing is only taking place in a state-sanctioned war.
Fucking idiots...

Playing CS online has taught me so much! Did you know that real CT teams gun down anybody on their own side who takes an AWP for being a "sN1p3r F@g"?
And the late-lamented Jeepathon2k map has been resurrected by the US Army as a training aid for HMMWV drivers! DoD officials were attracted by the map's highly realistic simulation of jeeps cartwheeling off ski jumps into quicksand!

I played both the Apple IIe versions (again and again, I'm suprised the floppy disks didn't die horrid deaths in the elementary school considering everyone played it) and the Mac edition (hunting was a lot easier in that one).
