How did you discover SD.net?

Me? The random URL effect. I just wondered who owned "stardestroyer.net" and keyed it in. Then...it started.
What about you all? Come from ASVS? Random too? Or some other means?

I was talking to Utsanomiko at school, and he gave me the website's URL.
He told me a couple months later that he was shocked at how well I was fitting in.

'Star Wars' or 'star destroyer' web search using probably either excite.com or dogpile.com. That was back before Google is you can believe it.

Believe it or not, I was looking for hate mail by creationists and found Mike Wong's page. After looking at other stuff on his site, I ended up here.

Simpliest explanation, I've seen Red post here several times and I was actually reluctant to join (he said there wasn't much here to pique my interest). But I joined anyway, and ended up enjoying my time more than I expected.

My brother found the site back in 1999, I think was the year. He read a lot of it aloud when I was in the room or I simply read over his shoulder, though I'd reread bits it myself when I got the chance. Signed up on the board after summer break after highschool once I got the chance.

A search for pics of Renaisance carracks produced pics of SW carracks(I had no idea such an animal existed), which led to a search for Star Destroyer pics, which led to a SW vs ST search due to a wild hair up my ass, and found the main site. I actually joined SB first, and joined here two weeks later.

I've known about Stardestroyer.net since early/mid 2000 thanks to my involvement in the VS debates at Spacebattles. Less then a week after this boards creation it was linked at Spacebattles and I popped in for a look. Decided I didn't want to bother. Three weeks later or so I drop in and start doing searches on the forum for anything of interest and low and behold someone had a thread going about some photoshop work I did. I've been here ever since.

I discovered it around the time I was creating it

I was randomly typing starwars items as urls such as xwing.com and etc until I hit stardestroyer.com, then stardestroyer.org, and finally stardestroyer.net and viola I found the site. This was I believe in 2001 and I forgot about it until the next year when I tried the same thing again and found that this site got a forum and here I am.

I found it around May of 2002, while trying to find out more about AotC. From IGN, I went to Theforce.net, then to Star Wars Technical Commentaries, and finally here. I registered when I did because I was away when the board started, and I hesitated for a few days after getting back before joining.

I was browsing through TrekBBS one day (not that I was ever a member - a pity, those flood-check screens were annoying), and decided to browse into an ST-v-SW thread on the Trek Technology board. It was about what you'd expect from that board - a few voices of reason drowned in "No Laser" arguments, Q, "ST tech is better because it looks better" and so forth.
One of the members linked here, calling Mike a "nutter" and a "hypocrite" (or something similar - not that they actually bothered to give examples), I decided to check out for myself - and failed to see what they were talking about. Of course, everything became clear when I saw Dorkster's site!

This is certainly not the first one of these. Oh well.
I was looking for Star Wars stuff, eventually found a STvsSW site (one detailing the RSA vs. Mike debate, actually).. From there I found a site on the web ring this one belongs to, and eventually got here. I found the forums, read all of starcrossed (up to that point), and signed up to worship Stravo.

There was a troll on the Indepedence War message board by the name of Duffy who posted an angry rant about Mike's site. Never have I seen such a rant. It was completely incoherent. It sounded like the guy's head was about to explode. I figured I had to see a site that caused that much anger in at least one moron. That's how I discovered the webiste. That was in 2000 or 2001.
I discovered the message board when Mike announced it on his site (or maybe he announced it on ASVS, can't remember). I didn't sign up until 2 weeks later, because I wasn't convinced people would migrate away from ASVS in sufficient numbers and there would just be a small group of posters from there. Boy was I wrong
